New Delhi (Kalinga Voice) : Former Union Minister Jaswant Singh, a prominent diplomat, and veteran politician is no more. He died today at the age of 82. He served as the country’s defense minister and headed other important ministries like Foreign Affairs. He established himself as an influential minister and an efficient MP . He was well known for his unique and clear views. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and other ministers and senior leaders have expressed deep grief over his death and paid tributes.
In his condolence message PM Modi Twits ” Jaswant Singh ji served our nation diligently, first as a soldier and later during his long association with politics. During Atal ji’s Government, he handled crucial portfolios and left a strong mark in the worlds of finance, defence and external affairs. Saddened by his demise.”
PM Modi further added that Mr. Singh “will be remembered for his unique perspective on matters of politics and society.” “He also contributed to the strengthening of the BJP. I will always remember our interactions. Condolences to his family and supporters. ” he tweeted.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in his condolence message said “Deeply pained by the passing away of veteran BJP leader and former Minister, Shri Jaswant Singh ji. He served the nation in several capacities including the charge of Raksha Mantri. He distinguished himself as an effective Minister and Parliamentarian.”
Home Minister Amit shah in his condolence message said that The death of Jaswant Singhji, a senior politician of the country and a minister in Atal ji’s cabinet, is sad and an irreparable loss for the country. While in various positions in government and organization, he has left a deep impression of his duty. I express my condolences to his family.
Union minister Petroleum , Natural Gas and Steel Dharmendra Pradhan expresses his grief and in his condolence message says “Saddened by the passing away of former defense minister and veteran BJP leader Shri Jaswant Singh ji. A man of great knowledge and wisdom, he served the nation diligently in several capacities. My deepest condolences to his family in this hour of grief.”
