Bhubaneswar/Bolangir (Niroj Mishra) : Following instructions of Chief Minister Sri Naveen Patnaik, Chairman WesternOdisha Development Council (WODC) and Principal Advisor to Chief Minister Sri AsitTripathy laid the foundation stone for construction of football playground and Stadium at BhimaBhoi Medical College and Hospital; Pavilion and Gallery in Gandhi Stadium; and, BKN Milk Union Diary Project in Balangir district today.
Replying to media query on the occasion, Sri Tripathy said, “Bolangirhas glorious history of sports”. The reckoned athletes like AnandiniDarjee made their practice here. The then it was known as lalmati. State Government has taken many steps for development of sports facilities and infrastructure in this district. WODC would join its resources with Governmental schemes forfilling the critical gaps and making the projects more useful for the people. He directed the Collector and Athletic Association of the district to prepare a perspective Master Plan for developing Gandhi Stadium to a State of the Art Stadium at State and national level. Sri Tripathy announced a grant of Rs.2.40 cr for development of Gandhi Stadium.
Further, Sri Tripathy added that by orders of Chief Minister, the works of Major irrigation project were expedited,and its irrigationcapacity was expanded from 26,500 hect to 50,000 hect through application of underground pressure technology. He expected that the project would be completed by end of December, 2023.
Collector Sri ChanchalRana appraised that the football play ground and stadium at BB MedicalCollege estimatedaround Rs.1.99cr would be funded by WODC. It would be developed over 4 acres of land with the modern facilities like synthetic track and pavilion etc. The stadium would also be used as a practice ground for the students to participatein different inter-college and inter-state competitions.
Similarly, the Pavilion project in Gandhi Stadium meant for both men and women at Gandhi Stadium was estimated around Rs.2.39 cr. It would be funded by WODC. Ten acres land was earlier allotted to District Athletic Association for development of the stadium.
The dairy development project would cover 30 village of Saintala, Gudvela andDeogaon Block involving more than 900 dairy farmers. Target was set to procure around 5000 liters of milk per day. Sri Tripathy directed to release milk cost to the farmers within ten days of supply. The project would boost milk production in the district and would generate additional employment opportunities.
Aamar OMFED Parlour inaugurated by Sri Tripathy aimed at enhancing marketing of processed milk and milk produces. The project was launched as a PPP project in collaboration between district administration and Aamar OMFED.
Collector Sri ChanchalRana along with senior officers of the district, members of athletic association, senior citizens, civil society organizations, community leaders and youths participated in the events.
