Bhubaneswar, September 08, 2022: It is well known that children born to doctor parents usually have all the incentives to choose medicine for higher studies. However, having no doctors in the family can also turn out to be a powerful motivation for the children to fill the void. Priya Somadutta Nayak, a student of Aakash BYJU’S, Bhubaneswar, who has Topped Odishasecuring 705 marks and an AIR of 39 in NEET UG 2022, is an example.
Son of a marketing manager, Priya decided to become a doctor when he was in class XII, seeing the ‘healing power’ of doctors, and after realising that there was no doctor in his family. “There were occasions when I was taken to hospitals for minor ailments like headache or stomach pain. I was amazed at the healing power of doctors. I also understood that there was not a single doctor in my family. I wondered whether I could become one. Since I was always a school topper, everyone said I could easily clear NEET, if I give it a try. Hence, I got enrolled for coaching at Aakash when I was in class VIII,” Priya recalls, while thanking his parents for believing in him. He also loved biology, physics and chemistry more than mathematics.

Priya considers the personal attention every student gets from the teachers as something unique about Aakash BYJU’S. “Often, getting low marks is the primary reason for a student to get demotivated. It was no different for me. I have had my own share of experiencing a low moods. But Aakash BYJU’S faculty and my parents were there to help me get out of it. I was also quick to realise whenever negative thoughts entered my mind and I did not let those thoughts devour my confidence. I did meditation to deal with stress,”he recollects.
He credits Aakash BYJU’S with offering a competitive environment and orientation. Priya is sociable. He loved talking to his friends and spending time with them. A few other things that he enjoyed most were watching cricket, and stand-up comedy shows on YouTube. Luckily, Priya had no pressure from his parents or teachers at Aakash BYJU’S to score high marks in NEET, and that really helped him prepare for the exam in his own style and pace. Priya is aiming to do MBBS in AIIMS Delhi or AIIMS Bhubaneswar, and to become a nephrologist in future, as he finds this specialization more interesting.
Commenting on the excellent NEET performance of Priya Somadutta, Mr. Aakash Chaudhry, Managing Director, Aakash BYJU’S, said, “Priya was an uncut gem.
