Bhubaneswar: A congregation of BJB Friends, the Alumni Association of the Buxi Jagabandhu Bidyadhar (BJB) College Bhubaneswar, has been held here on the college campus on Sunday.
Hundreds of alumni of the historic institute, under the aegis of ‘BJB Friends’ joined the meet and recollected their joyous past, in a special session held at the administrative block auditorium in the afternoon.
Minister for Science & Technology, Ashok Panda, MP, Rajya Sabh, Amar Pattnaik and Commissioner of Police Soumendra Kumar Priyadarshi addressed the gathering, as one among the premier alumni of the pious institution.
In view of the BJB Friends meet, Buxi Jyoti, a ceremonial lamp lit up for homage to the valiant hero Buxi Jagabandhu was placed on the campus to mark the occasion. Following this, an interactive session was held where the BJBians shared their experiences what they inherited from the College campus along with their achievements after their studies. Meanwhile, Padma Shri, Aditya Prasad Das, a 1971-alumnus was awarded for his lifetime contribution to the field of Science and Technology.
Similarly, Anukampa Das, a meritorious student of this year was conferred with a special Trophy for her multifarious achievements. The trophy was handed over to her by the Khandapada King, Former Minister & Deputy Speaker Bibhuti Bhusan Singh Mardaraj, and his son and former MLA of Khandapada, Siddharth Sekhar Singh.
Apart from it, the guests felicitated the successful students who clicked success in various competitions organised by the Alumni forum.
Minister Ashok Panda during his address highlighted the indispensability of a dedicated auditorium for the ‘BJB Friends’. Similarly, Police Commissioner S Priyadarshi emphasized the glorious past and value based education.
Among others, Chairperson of the BJB Friends, Debashis Pattnaik, Secretary Satyabrata Dhupal and Principal of the BJB College Niranjan Mishra interacted with the alumnus in an hour-long grand get-together.
