Thoughtless demolition alleged at SNSMT Head Quarter

Cuttack: Where efforts are being made by the state government to preserve the memory of the great men, at the same time CMC dozer demolishes the gate of the building which bears the memory of the great persons and freedom fighters. The dozer of the CMC demolished the gate of the memorial building of the legendary revolutionary Martyr of India’s freedom struggle legendary Shri. Bhagabati Charan Panigrahi and former Chief Minister Late Smt Nandini Satapathy without any proper reason or without any civic hindrance. Without any valid reason, the demolition squad of Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) demolished the entry gate of 9, Pithapur which houses the headquarter (HQ) of Smt. Nandini Satpathy Memorial Trust (SNSMT)

As per information, A safety wall had been erected to ensure that nobody falls into the filthy open drain which flows there. Neither the flow of the drain nor the service area of the drain was obstructed by this safety wall but the enforcement department demolished it. This property in 1932 was the headquarter of the legendary revolutionary Martyr of India’s freedom struggle legendary Shri. Bhagabati Charan Panigrahi, in 1972 it was the HQ of the then CM of Odisha Smt. Nandini Satpathy. Since 2022 it houses the HQ of SNSMT Chairman Shri. Suparno Satpathy .SNSMT runs in the memory of the former Chief Minister Smt. Satapathy.
Former local councillor of Pithapur Kedar Prusty said “ I was sure that there was no obstruction at Nandini Madam’s home at 9, Pithapur for CMC to have carried out this demolition, This seems like a targeted attack on Shri. Suparno Satpathy. .”.

Shri. Suparno Satpathy in a Facebook post shared the copy of the message sent to Nikhil Pavan Kalyan the Commissioner of CMC along with few photographs. Shri Satpathy says ” In the name of development we are witnessing a mindless, targeted demolition drive in Cuttack, Odisha. What harm was this safety wall doing? The service of the drain, as well as the flow in the drain, had no obstruction, yet this wall was demolished today”.

whereas It is alleged that this demolition is an attempt to shake the legacy of Smt. Nandini Satpathy, the authority in CMC could not be contacted for any reaction.
