Brain Dead Dooner saves Life of Two Patients

CADAVERIC KIDNEY TRANSPLANT SUCCESSFULLY DONE AT SCB MCH CUTTACK

Bhubaneswar (Kalinga Voice): The Urology and Nephrology department of SCB MCH Cuttack had successfully retrieved two kidneys from a brain-dead donor and successfully transplanted in two recipients with high priority score in state. The deceased donor named Tanuja Kar, female aged 57 of Tarol, Jagatpur, Cuttack was under treatment in CTVS Department of SCB MCH Cuttack. As she could not be revived in spite of all measures, she was declared brain dead by the Brain Death Declaration team of SCB MCH Cuttack. As per the recipient list of the state prepared by SOTTO, two recipients having high priority score were selected for kidney transplant. The matter was shared with ROTTO and NOTTO. The Apollo Hospital Bhubaneswar had cooperated in performing all laboratory investigations required. After cross match of donor and recipient the kidneys were retrieved and transplanted to two eligible recipients as per law who are stable. The recipients are Alok Bodak of Brajaraj Nagar, Jharsuguda, male aged 36 yrs, and Saurjya Ranjan Sahoo, CDA, Cuttack, male aged 48 years.

The transplant team of SCB MCH Cuttack were Dr. Samir Swain, Urology, Dr. Aruna Acharya Nephrology, Dr. Sabyasachi Panda, Dr. Snajaya Choudhury, Dr Sarat Chandra Parida and other staff of Department of Urology and Nephrology. All the members of SOTTO namely Dr. Bibhuti Bhusan Nayak, Joint Director, Suman Singh IEC Consultant, Subrat Kumar Sahoo Transplant Coordinator, and Ramakrushna Panda gave full support in total process. The Medical Superintendent Prof. Sudhansu Mishra, Prof. Manoj Patanaik Head CTVS and Sri Abinash Rout Registrar SCB MCH Cuttack, supervised the work. The State Nodal Officer SOTTO. Prof. (Dr.) Umakant Satapathy coordinated the total process.
