Tata Steel Mining honoured with ‘Excellence in Biodiversity’ management at CII ITC Sustainability Awards
Bhubaneswar/New Delhi: Tata Steel Mining Limited (TSML) has been awarded with Excellence in Biodiversity management at the CII ITC Sustainability Awards 2022 for its exemplary initiatives taken towards conserving biodiversity around the areas of its operations.
Nitin Gadkari, Hon’ble Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Government of India, presented the coveted award at a glittering ceremony held at New Delhi on Wednesday. Rajarshi Palit, Senior General Manager, Tata Steel Mining Limited received the award on behalf of the Company. Community awareness programmes like Prajatiya Khadyotsav, Green Therapy, Jaibakala Vividhata, conservation measures for the local silkworm species Sukinda Ecorace, butter fly garden, Medicinal park by TSML earned the praise of the assessors of the award.

Conserving and enhancing biodiversity is an integral part of TSML’s corporate strategy and value system and it strives to mainstream biodiversity in all its strategic and operational decisions. TSML has been trying to instil a sense of urgency towards to the cause among its employees, school students, community around its operations and other stakeholders through awareness programmes and its biodiversity initiatives are guided by the Biodiversity Management Plans prepared for its sites.
