Bhubaneswar : “Yesterday’s Depression has intensified into Cyclonic storm Mocha pronounced as Mokha today morning and further intensified into a Severe Cyclonic storm in the evening today. It is centered about 900 km South of Paradeep and moved Northwards with speed 11 kmph. It is not in favourable condition due to moderate wind shear and moderate outflow at 12 km height from surface but favourable sea surface temp 31 degree Celsius which may favour further intensification of system till 13th May.The system will recurve Northeastwards tomorrow towards Bangladesh coast.” SOA’s Centre for Environment and Climate (CEC) said.
Based on today’s data, distance from Odisha to track of cyclone is more than 500 km distance but cloud mass are at little distance in the west from track line.So, there is probability of cloudy sky from tomorrow up to 13th May in Coastal districts but probability of rain is not indicated.
The system will landfill in Bangladesh coast on 14th May afternoon.
Though global models are showing NEwards movement towards Bangladesh but observational data indicate that landfall May be in Sunderban-Bangladesh region with wind speed around 200 kmph and in such case, there might be rain in Bhadrak and Baleshwar.
