MO BUS CAUGHT FIRE IN RKL:CRUT REGRETS

Bhubaneswar/Rourkela : Today an non-AC Mo Bus running in Rourkela city caught fire near TCI Square at around 10.15 am. Passengers and the bus crew were unharmed after they alighted from the bus in time before it went up in flames.The fire brigade reached the spot and extinguished the fire.

CRUT regrets to inform about the incident that occurred earlier today at Space Chowk, Rourkela involving a Mo Bus catching fire which was immediately responded to without any damage to anyone. The Mo Bus Captain on duty noticed a technical snag in the bus no. OD 14 AB 6676 and promptly informed the route supervisor who sent another bus as a replacement bus to take the commuters to their destination after they were safely shifted.
On the way to the Depot for maintenance, the empty bus no. OD 14 AB 6676 caught an unexpected fire at Space Chowk, Rourkela. Emergency services were immediately notified and the local fire department subsequently brought the fire under control. It was the early detection of the issue by the Mo Bus Captain and the prompt response of the CRUT staff because of which there was zero fatality.
An urgent meeting was conducted by CRUT with the local CRUT team at Rourkela, Operator and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) – Tata Motors to determine the cause of the fire and to prevent any such incidents from occurring in the future. The Tata Motors team is rushing to Rourkela to investigate the cause of the incident and take remedial action. Police has been requested to investigate the incident to find out if there is any sabotage.
The safety and well-being of Mo Bus passengers and employees are of utmost importance to CRUT. In view of this incident, CRUT is reevaluating its maintenance and safety protocols to ensure that its fleet operates in the safest possible manner.
