Bhubaneshwar: 9 June celebrates the Daughters of India. In year 2007 as a mark of respect for legendary Smt. Nandini Satpathy, her birth anniversary was marked as National Daughters Day of India. (Nandini Diwas) *Nandini and *Diwas are two Sanskrit words which mean Daughter and Day respectively. This was inaugurated by the then Governor of Orissa Late Rameshwar Thakur and it was appreciated by the then PM of India Dr. Manmohan Singh.
9 June 2023 marks the 92nd birth anniversary of Smt. Nandini Satpathy. Many events were held to mark this day.
Several noted people including politicians, academicians, authors, artists , sports personalities etc. paid homage.
Smt. Nandini Satpathy Memorial Trust (SNSMT) Chairman Shri. Suparno Satpathy said “Gratitude with everyone who joined today’s prayer meetings and remembered her”. He greeted every daughter (Nandini) of India and added “When our daughters shine, India shines”
