CM inaugurated 7 projects constructed at a cost of Rs 24 crore out of WODC fund

Laid the foundation stone of 6 projects to be built at a cost of Rs 6 crore.

Bhubaneswar, 14th July 2023: Chief Minister Shri Naveen Patnaik in virtual mode,inaugurated 7 projects constructed at a cost of Rs 24 crore out of Western Odisha Development Council fund and also laid the foundation stone of 6 projects to be built at a cost of Rs 6 crore.In addition, Balangir-Kalahandi-Nuapada Regional Cooperative Milk Production Federation has been given a cheque of Rs50 lakh as approved by WODC for the purchase of a milk tanker with a capacity of 15,000 liters. Along with this, the Hon’ble CM has launched the ‘Mukhyamantri Sabha Ghar’ initiative in WODC districts for completion of all incomplete Kalyan Mandaps and Community Centres for public use by the end of 2003.

New Bridge at ‘Gadiajore Nala’and Titlagarh Town Hall in Balangir District; Development of eco-tourism site near Barabakhara Falls and Caves near Debrigarh Sanctuary in Bargarh District; Deogarh College auditorium; State-of-the-art auditorium of Gangadhar Meher University in Sambalpur District, Kuchinda College auditorium and newly constructed hostel project of Braja Mohan High School, Bhawanipatna in Kalahandi district have been inaugurated by Hon’ble CM.

Similarly, foundation has been laid for developmental initiatives namelyCommunity Centre and Common Facility Centre in Jandala village of Bargarh district, ‘Kala Gram’ in Buromunda, development of ‘Destination Tourism’ in Katabahal; restoration of Chhaal Bahadur Dam at Deogarh, Multi-Purpose Community Center at Keshoibahal in Sambalpur District; beautification of ponds near Fisheries Office and Vimala Convent School in Kalahandi district.

At the outset delivering the introductory address, the Chairman of WODC, Shri Asit Tripathy said that the Government is giving high priority to the development of Western Odisha. The people of the entire Western Odisha have immense love and respect for the strong and visionary leadership of the hon’ble Chief Minister. Everyone is very happy as the hon’ble Chief minister is inaugurating many projects supported by WODC in various parts of Western Odisha. The Hon’ble Chief Minister’s vision and 5T mandate has further accelerated Council’s working modalities. In the past few years, the Council has taken up projects in various parts of Western Odisha creating high quality infrastructure for the public. WODC haspromoted improvement of sports facilities in schools and colleges with modern auditoriums, indoor halls for sports activities in major towns, various colleges and universities of the districts. The Council has been reclaiming a large number of wetlands for the benefit of towns and villages. Infrastructure has been developed to increase milk production. Special attention is being paid for completion of all infrastructure projects which have been started in the past and remained incomplete.

In Titlagarh Ms Tukuni Sahu, Minister for Water Resources, Commerce and Transport, in Bargarh Ms Rita Sahu, Hon’ble Minister for Textiles and Handicrafts, in Deogarh Shri Rajendra Dholakia, Hon’ble Minister for Planning and Convergence attended the event in virtual mode while Hon’ble MLAs of these districts were present on the spot.

On this occasion, Shri Rajendra Dholakia, Minister, Planning and Convergence said that under the guidance of the Hon’ble Chief minister, Western Odisha Development Council, and DistrictAdministrationsare continuously coordinating to provide welfare measures and civic amenities like roads, irrigation, health care, education, drinking water facilities along with giving emphasis on livelihood sectors in several inaccessible areas and people are greatly benefited out of it.

The Hon’ble Chief Minister in his address stated that efforts are being made to strengthen the Western Odisha Development Council for a balanced economic progress. The annual grant of West Odisha Development Council has been increased from 200 crores to 325 crores. This has created an opportunity for the Council to take up more projects catering to public interest. Hon’ble Chief Ministerexpected that with the timely and people-oriented development initiatives of the council, the infrastructure of the districts in the region along with the growth of education, agriculture, irrigation and industry can be further improved. The council is working on the basis of 5T initiatives and the Chief Minister’s office has been monitoring on a regular basis the programs of the Council. The Hon’ble CM expressed that he is giving special attention to Western Odisha and expressed his happiness with the program of the Council. Hon’ble Chief Minister concluded his speech with soliciting wholehearted cooperation and good wishes from all to accelerate the development of Wester Odisha in coming days.

At the end, Dr Ajit Kumar Mishra, Chief Executive Officer of WODC proposed a vote of thanks to the Hon’ble CM and all the dignitaries and officials attending this event.
