Mumbai – On the occasion of World Youth Skills Day, Tata Power Skill Development Institute (TPSDI) proudly announces a significant milestone of having successfully trained 2 lakh students in essential and green job skills for the power sector. TPSDI, a state-of-the-art skill enhancement institute, has been a driving force in empowering youth and individuals with employable skills, with a specific focus on jobs pertaining to renewable energy sector, in alignment to the company’s ‘Sustainable is Attainable’ mission.

World Youth Skills Day is observed annually on July 15th and is led by the United Nations to recognize the strategic significance of providing young individuals with the skills necessary for employment, decent work, and entrepreneurship. With its six training centres across India, TPSDI has made remarkable progress in addressing the significant challenge of skill gaps prevalent in the Indian Power Sector.

Green jobs are experiencing a notable upward trajectory as the demand for sustainable solutions and environmental conservation continues to grow. TPSDI recognizes this increasing demand for green jobs as India aims to achieve net zero emissions by 2070 and to drive the clean energy transition with an aim to fulfil the India’s goal of achieving 500 GW of renewable energy capacity. TPSDI is committed to offering specialized training and certification programs, while aligning itself with the country’s sustainable development goals and preparing individuals for rewarding careers in the growing field of green jobs.

At TPSDI, the training experience is meticulously designed to ensure the holistic development of trainees. Beyond imparting technical skills, the institute also emphasizes enhancing numerical proficiency, scientific acumen, fundamental IT knowledge, industry orientation, effective communication, soft skills, personality development, work ethics, and sector-specific safety, health, and environment (SHE) practices. The training program combines theoretical knowledge with practical hands-on skills, nurturing well-rounded professionals prepared to tackle the industry’s challenges with excellence.

 Continuing its unwavering commitment to empowering India’s youth, TPSDI recently empanelled with India’s Skill Council for Green Jobs (SCGJ) and Power Sector Skill Council (PSSC), highlighting its commitment to quality training and industry alignment.The training courses at TPSDI follow the TPSDI Competency Framework, which aligns with the National Skill Quality Framework (NSQF). This framework enables participants to quickly acquire deployable skills and encourages them to continuously upgrade their skills over time.To cater to India’s  smart energy requirements, TPSDI also unveiled skill development courses in Solar Photovoltaic for Electric Vehicle Charging, Installation and Maintenance of Rooftop Solar Photovoltaic, Installation of Smart Meters, and Home Automation.

TPSDI is taking a forward-looking approach by envisioning the introduction of courses in cutting-edge fields like artificial intelligence, machine learning, and energy consulting. This proactive stance ensures that trainees remain at the forefront of technological advancements in the energy sector. As India places utmost importance on its responsibilities and duties, the next 25 years of independence, known as “Kartavya Kaal,” hold immense significance. TPSDI is aligning its offerings with this vision, contributing to the country’s journey towards 100 years of independence and embracing an era of excellence and responsibility.
