Contributed 50 Lakhs to ‘Mo College’ fund towards development of Institutions!
A bright example of ‘Contribution has no Boundaries’
Bhubaneswar: Dr. Narayani Panda, the renowned gynaecologist and obstetrician of Sambalpur is all over the news again for her bountiful contributions towards educational institutions of her hometown. This time Dr. Panda generously contributed Rs.20 lakhs to Govt. Women’s College towards its infrastructural development through State Govt’s ‘Mo College Abhijan’ Initiative. The 86-year-old retired doctor has become an inspiration for others by devoting her life for the service of needy.
Previously Dr.Narayani Panda has contributed a gigantic amount of Rs.30 lakhs to Gangadhar Meher(G.M) University to establish a building containing IT centre to sharpen the IT skills of students. This time she again voluntarily contributed another sizeable amount of Rs.20 lakhs towards infrastructural development of Govt. Women’s College, Sambalpur. This makes a whopping 50 lakhs contributed amount by her in this year. There was a time when Dr.Panda had to go through many hardships to continue her study. When her father was unable to pay for her education, G.M College had provided 25rs. Of monthly stipend which helped her to continue the medical course. Later when she succeeded in life being one of the most renowned doctors of state, she contributes Rs.30lakhs to G.M University which she thinks as ‘Gurudakshina’ towards her alma mater. Dr. Panda ensured to provide every motivation that is needed to boost the spirit of scholar students of various Institutions regardless of their background. Contribution of 20lakhs to Govt. women’s college was a clear statement of though she retired from her job; she has not retired from the social services.
She also gave another cheque of Rs.5 lakhs towards a corpus fund aiming to help poverty-stricken students of the college; she set a bright example of ‘contribution has no boundaries’. From the donated amount, the Govt.women’s college is aiming to procure furniture along with interior accessories, instruments, sound arrangement and different peripheral works for the newly constructed multipurpose hall. This can open a whole new opportunity towards existing students of the college as well as coming generations to get inspired.
Principal of Govt.Women’s College Smt.Rajashree Baral, Professor Samita Acharya, Prof.Pabitra Mohan Behera along with ‘Mo College’ Coordinator Prof.Jogesh Chandra Bhoi were present at the residence of Smt.Panda during handover of the cheques.
