Depression may intensify into a Cyclonic Storm in the evening or night of 25th and will cross near Sundarban
Bhubaneswar : “Intensification of the low pressure system is very slow because wind speed on lower and upper atmosphere is very weak.
Now the Depression is centered about 550 km Southeast of Balasore and it will move in Northerly direction towards West Bengal-Bangladesh coast.
Depression may intensify into a Cyclonic Storm in the evening or night of 25th May,24 and it will cross South of Kolkata near Haldia or close to Sunderban in the forenoon of 27th May,24 with wind speed around 120kmph.” says Dr Sarat chandra Sahu, Director, SOA Centre of Environment and Climate (CEC)
He furrther added ” Under its influence, rainfall will occur in coastal districts in the night of 25th May and day time on 26th May with heavy rainfall in Kendrapara, Jajpur,Bhadrak,Balasore,Cuttack and Mayurbhanj.Moderate rain will occur in Bhubaneswar on 25th night and 26th day time with wind speed 20 to 30 kmph on 26th May.However. wind speed 60 to 70 kmph May be experienced in Balasore and Bhadrak district.
It’s land fall process will be very slow and it may take 8 to 10 hours. “
