Bhubaneswar, July 12: A low pressure area is likely to take shape over northwest Bay of Bengal along the Odisha coast on July 15 under the influence of an upper air cyclonic circulation which may form over the same area the previous day, SOA’s Centre for Environment and Climate (CEC) said on Friday.
These systems may cause moderate to heavy rainfall at many places over coastal and south Odisha with heavy to very heavy rainfall in the southern districts between July 14 and 17, a CEC bulletin said.
Meanwhile, a feeble upper air trough extending from east Uttar Pradesh to south Odisha coast favoured light to moderate rain at many places and heavy rainfall at one or two places in north and coastal districts on July 12 and 13, it said.
The low pressure system over northwest Bay of Bengal, the bulletin said, might intensify into a depression on July 18 and 19 and gradually move northwards before crossing north Odisha coast on July 20 evening causing widespread and heavy to very heavy rainfall in north, western and coastal districts extending upto July 21.
