ECoR GM Inspects Key Rail Projects in Sambalpur, Boudh and Keonjhar areas, reviewed passenger amenities

Sambalpur:East Coast Railway (ECoR) General Manager Shri Parmeshwar Funkwal, conducted a detailed inspection of the Jharmunda-Boudh section, part of the ongoing Khurda Road-Balangir Rail Line project as well as the Sambalpur-Jarapada Railway Section, yesterday. Senior officials from ECoR headquarters, project construction teams and representatives from the Sambalpur Railway Division accompanied Shri Funkwal during the inspection. Shri Funkwal assessed the ongoing infrastructure development and passenger amenities along these critical routes.
During the inspection, Shri Funkwal reviewed the progress of the Khurda Road-Balangir project and emphasized the importance of completing the construction within the targeted timeline. This public-centric project, which spans remote areas, is closely monitored by the Ministry of Railways.
Out of the total 301 kilometers of the Khurda Road-Balangir project, 152.805 kilometers have been commissioned. The Railways has been constructing this line from both sides, i.e., from Khurda Road and Balangir, to ensure the early completion of the project. Till now, 105.8 kilometers from Khurda Road to Daspalla and 47 kilometers from Balangir to Sonepur have been completed. The segment from Sonepur to Purunakatak, covering about 73 kilometers, is expected to be completed within the next few months.
Shri Funkwal also inspected the Sambalpur-Jarapada Railway Section, focusing on infrastructural and developmental work, as well as passenger amenities. He advised officials to take necessary steps for the early completion of these projects.
Additionally, Shri Funkwal inspected the Keonjhar-Nayagarh Railway Section of the Jakhapura-Jaroli Rail Line, focusing on passenger amenities and traffic facilities in the Keonjhar area. He emphasized the need for prompt action to improve facilities at Nayagarh and Keonjhar Stations for the comfort and convenience of passengers.
In a welfare initiative for running staff, including loco pilots, assistant loco pilots and Train Managers, Shri Funkwal assessed the facilities at Running Rooms. He engaged with staff to understand their needs and discussed measures to enhance amenities for their benefit.
East Coast Railway remains committed to the timely completion of these critical infrastructure projects and continues to prioritize passenger comfort and safety across its network.
