An Inter-School Art Competition, Showcasing Young Talent

Bhubaneswar :  The Rotary Club of Bhubaneswar Meadows successfully organized the inter-school art competition “Rangatuli-2024.” This highly anticipated event, now in its 3rd edition, brought together over 550 young artists from 105 schools across the city, competing in two categories with the theme of ‘Krishna’s Magical Childhood’ for students of  Std. IV to Std. VII  & ‘The Heritage of Odisha’ for students of  Std. VIII to Std. X.

The competition, held at the Odisha State Museum, was inaugurated by renowned Sahitya Akademi award-winning writer Shree Dash Benhur, Smt. Bhagyalipi Malla, Superintendent of the Odisha State Museum and PDG Aswini Kar. The young participants demonstrated remarkable creativity and skill, creating artworks that reflected both their imagination and artistic talent.

The day’s events culminated in a grand award ceremony at the Bhanja Kala Mandap. From Group-A, ANWETA SAHU VIKASH FIRST STEP School, KRITIKA ROUTRAY MOTHER PUBLIC PAHALA, and MANDIRA JENA BMPS TAKSHILA secured the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prizes, respectively. From Group-B, Sai shree singh Loyala, Hitansi Behera ODM, and Puravi Baral SBG Vidaya Mandir were awarded the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prizes, respectively. Additionally, 5 students from each group received consolation prizes. A total of Rs. 60,000 in cash prizes, along with mementos, were distributed to the winners.

The ceremony was graced by several esteemed dignitaries, including Dr Sambit Parta, Member of  Parliament, Puri Lok Sabha who served as the Chief Guest. Other notable guests included Sj. Babu Singh, Hon’ble MLA of  Ekamra, Sj. Ashrit Patnaik, Hon’ble MLA of  Pipili, and Rotary District Governor (2024-25) Rtn. Yagyansis Mohapatra.

In his address, Chief Guest Dr Sambit Parta commended the young artists for their outstanding work and praised the Rotary Club for its efforts in nurturing young talent. “Art is a powerful medium for expression, and it is heartening to see so many young minds channeling their creativity in such a positive way,” he said.

Immediate Past President Rtn. Surj K Raj managed the award ceremony with the help of the core team of Rangatuli-2024. Club Secretary Rtn. Ramakrushna Panda coordinated the publication of the club bulletin, “The Meadows”, with the esteemed guest.

The Rotary Club President, Rtn. Budha Prakash Mohapatra, and the event chair, Past President Santosh Senapati, expressed their gratitude to all participants, sponsors,partners, Rotaractors and the entire core team  who contributed to the success of the event. “This competition is more than just a contest; it is an opportunity for students to express themselves, build confidence, and develop their artistic skills. We are proud to provide a platform for these talented young individuals,” the President stated.

The event received widespread appreciation from parents, teachers, and attendees, who praised the high level of organization and the quality of artworks on display. Many remarked on the importance of such events in encouraging artistic pursuits among school children.

The Rotary Club of Bhubaneswar Meadows looks forward to continuing its tradition of supporting young talent and fostering a love for the arts in future editions of Rangatuli.
