TPWODL Sets Up 500 kVA Mobile DTR at Rourkela

Burla/Rourkela, 27-02-2025: TPWODL, the power distribution company in western Odisha has introduced a state-of-the-art mobile Distribution Transformer (DTR) with a capacity of 500 kVA at Rourkela city, marking a significant milestone in the region’s power infrastructure.

This is the first time that a trolley-type mobile DTR has been deployed in Rourkela city, and it is expected to revolutionize the way transformer replacements and installations are handled in case of power breakdowns.

Presently, the mobile DTR is stationed at Vedvyas to ensure reliable power supply during the Vedvyas Mela, a key event of Mahashivratri celebrations from February 26 to March 10, 2025.

The newly deployed 500 kVA mobile trolley-type transformer is equipped with a transformer, Ring Main Unit (RMU), and LT protection panels. This unique, portable system is designed to significantly reduce the downtime typically associated with the replacement or installation of a transformer during unexpected breakdowns. The advanced mobile system allows for a faster and more efficient restoration of power, ensuring minimal disruption to residents and businesses in the Rourkela town.
