After the Odisha Government passed an ordinance “Shri Lingaraj Temple Ordinance, 2020” for the management of Lingaraj Temple, Union Minister Petroleum -Natural Gas and Steel Dharmendra Pradhan writes a letter to Chief Minister Shri Naveen Pattanaik to seek his intervention in enacting similar legislation for the management of 4 iconic temples along the lines of Shri Jagannath Temple Act, 1955 and Shri Lingaraj Temple Ordinance, 2020..
A day after the state cabinet cleared the Shri Lingaraj Temple Ordinance 2020 on Monday, the Union Minister, in his letter to the Chief Minister Mr. Patnaik today has suggested that that the Maa Biraja Temple in Jajpur, Maa Samaleswari Temple in Sambalpur, Maa Tara Tarini Temple in Ganjam, and Shri Nilamadhav Temple in Nayagarh have immense religious and socio-cultural significance for the people of Odisha. So the State Government should enact similar legislation for the management of the above 4 iconic temples . The Union Minister has said that such legal provisions will ensure high standard of management accountability and safeguard the long-term interests of the temples while ensuring better facilities to devotees and visitors.
PNG Minister Mr. Pradhan further said, such legislation will also go a long way in furthering the religious tourism prospects of the encompassing districts, leading to increased domestic and international tourist footfalls.
