Utkal Alumina Launches 2nd Phase of Light Motor Vehicle Driving Training (LMVDT) Camp under CSR at Nuagaan

Kashipur , 11/07: Utkal Alumina International Ltd.(UAIL), a unit of Hindalco Industries under the Aditya Birla Group, has launched the second phase of its Light Motor Vehicle Training (LMVT) driving training camp under its CSR initiative at Nuagaon village, Maikanch GP, Kashipur Block, Rayagada district. The initiative, aims at empowering rural youth with employable skills and making them self reliant, is being conducted under the project Kushali by the CSR wing of Utkal Alumina’s Baphlimali mine.
The monthly training camp is designed to support unemployed youth especially school dropouts from remote tribal areas for earning a livelihood by acquiring driving skills. The first phase of this initiative, held in January to February this year, successfully trained 30 youth who received All India valid driving licenses after qualifying in the driving test conducted by the District Transport Office.
Following this success, the second phase has now enrolled another 30 youth from Maikanch and Kodipari panchayats covering villages such as Andirakanch, Paikakupakhal, Maikanch, Nuagaan, Renga, and Jogiparitunda.
The inaugural event was graced by Mr. Vijay Chauhan, Mines Head, Utkal Alumina; Mr. Manoj Kumar Das, Head CSR (Mines); Mr. Mastaram Majhi, Sarpanch, Maikanch GP; Mr. Harish Chandra Dalapati, Samiti Sabhya; and community leaders Mr. Kishore Dishari and Mr. Markanda Dishari.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Vijay Chauhan emphasized that the trained youth are now eligible to drive vehicles across India, which will help them earn a livelihood and support their families. Skilled driving, he noted, can not only ensure their financial independence but also safeguard their lives and the lives of others.


Sarpanch Mr. Mastaram Majhi praised Utkal Alumina’s noble initiatives and requested the company to take up more development works, particularly to improve drinking water facilities in Maikanch GP. Samiti Sabhya Mr. Harish Chandra Dalapati also appreciated the various CSR interventions and urged for more such comprehensive development initiatives.
The programme was successfully conducted under the supervision of CSR Manager Mr. Sushant Dhal, Deputy Manager Mines Admin Mr. Binod Pujari, Senior Officer Mr. Sudhir Kumar Nayak, Officer Mines Admin Mr. Prashant Singh, Assistant Officer Ms. M. Devi Priya, and Deputy Officer Mr. Sanjeeb Kumar.
The event concluded with a plantation drive, which reflects the company’s commitment to environmental sustainability alongside skill development.
