Lighting Lives in the Hills: TPSODL Enhances Power Reliability in Malkangiri

Berhampur, August, 2025: In a significant step towards empowering rural and interior regions of Southern Odisha, TP Southern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPSODL) has undertaken infrastructure upgrades in the Malkangiri district, one of the most geographically challenging terrains in the state.
As part of its commitment to enhance power reliability and meet growing electricity demands, TPSODL has successfully installed distribution transformers (DTRs) in several remote villages in Malkangiri. A new 100 kVA DTR along with 11 kV and LT lines has been commissioned at MV-7 village. Similarly, another 100 kVA distribution transformer is now operational along the nursery road in Parjaguda. Additionally, an extra 63 kVA DTR has been installed at Sadashivpur to further strengthen the local power distribution.
Malkangiri, known for its rich tribal heritage, dense forests, and hilly terrain, poses logistical and infrastructural challenges. Despite these hurdles, TPSODL continues efforts with a proactive and resilient approach to electrification, ensuring that even the most remote regions receive reliable electricity.
These new installations are expected to benefit over hundreds of residents in these localities, improving their quality of life through enhanced power supply for households and small businesses.
