Tikiri ; Utkal Alumina International Limited (UAIL), a unit of Hindalco Industries Limited under the Aditya Birla Group, celebrated the 79th Independence Day with great enthusiasm at its Nuapada Township, in Tikiri, Rayagada district. The celebration took place at the township ground in Nuapada, where Unit Head Shri Rabinarayan Mishra hoisted the national flag. The event commenced with the singing of the national anthem by all attendees.
In the beginning of the celebration was a ceremonial parade involving security personnel, employees, and contingents from SSTF, SIS, SLV, women employees, fire service staff, NCC girls, and students from Aditya Birla Public School. Each group paid their respects to the national flag in a disciplined manner. Shri. Mishra accepted the guard of honour and appreciated the spirited participation of all involved. The audience, comprising employees and their families, enjoyed the vibrant display of unity and commitment to national pride.

In his address, Shri. Mishra emphasized that Independence Day is a moment to honour the sacrifices of those who laid down their lives for the freedom of our country. He highlighted how these brave individuals have shaped the golden chapter of India’s independence and urged all citizens to uphold their responsibilities toward the nation. He called upon everyone to pledge to build a better India for future generations, stressing the importance of eliminating plastic use, conserving water and energy, and contributing to national development through the “Make in India” initiative. Stating on current global challenges such as tariff wars, Shri. Mishra stated that developing nations are at a critical juncture, and citizens must strengthen domestic production and sustainability. He expressed pride in Hindalco’s global recognition as a leading sustainable company and reaffirmed his belief that this reputation will continue to grow stronger.
The celebration also included cultural performances with patriotic themes by students from Aditya Birla Public School, Thutibar Girls’ School, and Tikiri Girls’ High School. Their performances added vibrancy and emotional depth to the event.
As a token of appreciation, several security personnel were felicitated for their dedication and outstanding contributions to the plant’s safety and operations. The awards were presented by Shri. Rabinarayan Mishra and his wife, Smt. Prabha Mishra. Awardees included D.P. Das (SSTF), Dushmant Nayak (SIS), Purushottam Mahananda (SLV), Bharati Maharana (LSG), Pradeep Nayak (Fire), Santosh Dora (Utkal Hospital), Anjan Majhi and Pitambar Nayak (Admin Department), Balaram Majhi (IT Department), and other notable security staff such as Ashikirana Bag, Nirmal Harijan, and Krishna Batilia.

A special moment during the event was the felicitation of Shri. Mahesh Pandey, who was honored by the dignitaries present for completing 25 years of dedicated service in the Aditya Birla Group. He was recognized for his commitment and lifetime contribution to the organization.
The event was witnessed by the presence of several department heads and key personnel, including Colonel Paramjit Bajwa (Head, Security), Shri. Narayan Mitra (HR Head), Shri. Bijaya Kumura, Shri. Vijay Chauhan (Head, Baphlimali Mines), Smt. Lopamudra Mishra (Head, CSR), Smt. Sharmila Sarkar (Head, HR Department), Shri. Kiran Nayak (Head, E R Department), and Shri. Uttam Giri (AVP), along with other dignitaries. The entire program was anchored by Karuna Tiwari, a teacher at Aditya Birla Public School.
On the other hand, the 79th Independence Day was celebrated on Baphlimali Mines by UAIL Mines team. Participating in the event, Mines Head, Shri. Vijay Chauhan hoisted the national flag and led the group in singing the national anthem. He also received the salute during the parade organized by the security personnel. Following the event, biscuits and sweets were distributed at the nearby school associated near the mines. The program was organized under the supervision of Shri. Manoj Das, the CSR Head of the mine, with active cooperation from other CSR dept. employees.
