Tata Steel’s FAMD Organises Health & Safety Camp for Truckers

Over 300 truck drivers received free health screening

Sukinda (Jajpur), October 10, 2025: Tata Steel’s Ferro Alloys and Minerals Division (FAMD) successfully conducted a three-day health and safety camp for truck drivers at the parking yard of the Saruabil Chromite Mine in Sukinda from 8th to 10th October.

Organised in collaboration with Progresiva Sustina Foundation (PSF) India and the company’s logistic partners, the camp aimed to promote the health, safety, and overall well-being of truck drivers—an essential workforce in the mining and logistics sector.

The initiative offered a comprehensive range of services, including general health screening, vision tests, and on-the-spot provision of spectacles for those in need.Road safety awareness sessions provided practical tips and information to help drivers enhance their safety on the roads. In addition, the camp featured counselling sessions on health and social security programs, empowering truckers to access long-term support and resources.

More than 300 truck drivers from across the Sukinda region received free health screening at the three-day long camp which focused on their health, long-term well-being and road safety.

The camp also featured a joint safety pledge ceremony where truckers, Tata Steel personnel and the company’s logistic partners collectively affirmed their commitment to personal safety on and off the road, cargo safety through responsible handling and vigilance, family safety by prioritising health, well-being and safe driving practices.

Through this initiative, Tata Steel continues to reinforce its commitment to the welfare of its extended workforce, ensuring that health, safety, and well-being remain a top priority across its operations.
