CII Odisha Mining Conclave 2025 held at Jharsuguda

Jharsuguda: The CII Odisha Mining Conclave 2025 held yesterday at Jharsuguda, marking the beginning of a two-day conference that bought together over 250 distinguished leaders from industry, government, academia, and allied sectors.

The Conference was organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in collaboration with the Government of Odisha, the conclave aimed at shaping a globally competitive, sustainable, and future-ready mining ecosystem in the state.

Speaking on the occasion Shri Tankadhar Tripathy, Hon’ble Member of the Odisha Legislative Assembly, Jharsuguda reflected on the district’s historic and strategic importance. He reaffirmed Jharsuguda’s commitment to Vision 2036, focusing on skill development, sustainable practices, and entrepreneurship to empower local communities and sustain Odisha’s leadership in India’s industrial growth story.

Shri Chavan Kunal Motiram, IAS, Collector and District Magistrate, Jharsuguda, spotlighted the district’s rise as an industrial powerhouse, with strengths in aluminium, power, and manufacturing. He highlighted Jharsuguda’s robust infrastructure, skilled workforce, and sustainable growth initiatives, emphasizing that “today’s conclave is about shaping the future of mining — blending progress with sustainability, innovation, and shared prosperity.”

Mr. G. Suresha, Vice Chairman, CII Odisha State Council, highlighted Odisha’s rich mineral wealth—ranging from iron ore to coal and manganese—and its strategic role in driving industrial investment, employment generation, and regional growth. He emphasized that the conclave seeks to showcase opportunities, promote green mining, and strengthen the mining ecosystem for an inclusive and forward-looking future.

Dr. Pradipta Mohanty, Past Chairman, CII Odisha State Council, in his address, reiterated that mining has long been the cornerstone of Odisha’s economic development, fueling key sectors like steel, aluminium, cement, and energy. He noted that Odisha continues to be a vibrant hub for sustainable mineral-led industrial growth as India advances toward greater self-reliance.

Prof. Mahadeo Jaiswal, Director, IIM Sambalpur, underscored two major disruptions reshaping the mining landscape—digitalization and decarbonization. He stressed that while digital adoption is transforming operational efficiency, enhancing ESG performance remains crucial to balancing industrial progress with environmental and social responsibility.

Dr Prabodh Mohanty, Member, CII Odisha State Council gave the concluding remarks.

The conclave continued today with panel discussions, exhibitions, and networking sessions exploring innovation, technology adoption, logistics optimization, and green transition pathways across the mining value chain.
