NTPC Bongaigaon Celebrates 51st Raising Day, Marking the Golden Jubilee of NTPC

Bongaigaon: NTPC Bongaigaon celebrated the organisation’s 51st Raising Day — also marking the company’s Golden Jubilee — with great enthusiasm at its Administrative Building. The celebration brought together employees, their families, and the local community through a series of events that reflected the spirit of unity, pride, and progress.

The programme commenced with the unfurling of the NTPC flag by Shri Arnab Maitra, Head of Project, NTPC Bongaigaon, followed by a ceremonial cake cutting and the release of colourful NTPC-themed balloons to commemorate the milestone.

In his address, Shri Arnab Maitra reflected on NTPC’s inspiring journey from its inception at Singrauli in 1975 to its present stature as India’s largest integrated power producer, with an installed capacity exceeding 84 GW, spanning both standalone units and joint ventures. He highlighted NTPC Bongaigaon’s contribution of 750 MW in powering the North-Eastern region 24×7, maintaining a Declared Capacity (DC) of 98.61%, and reaffirmed its operational excellence. He also emphasized NTPC’s steadfast commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives across the North Eastern States and its focus on environmental conservation, while expressing gratitude to all stakeholders for their continued support.

The event was graced by Shri Anurag Gupta, GM (O&M), Shri L.N. Meitei, Commandant, CISF, Smt. Kasturi Maitra, President, Bardwi Shikla Ladies Club, along with senior officials, departmental representatives, members of employees’ unions and  associations, welfare bodies and the Bardwi Shikla Ladies Club office bearers. 

Recognizing the contributions of its dedicated workforce, NTPC Bongaigaon honoured six employees with the Power Excel Awards for their exemplary performance and commitment. Additionally, four employees of the power station designated as Master Trainers under the Rastriya KarmYogi Training Programme of Govt. of India were also felicitated for their efforts in driving learning and development across the station.

As part of the celebration, employees also came together to sing “Vande Mataram”, marking 150 years of the iconic song that continues to inspire generations with its message of patriotism, unity, and devotion to the motherland. The rendition added a sense of pride and reverence to the occasion, connecting NTPC’s Golden Jubilee with the nation’s enduring cultural legacy.  

To mark the occasion, earlier during the day , a Walkathon was also organised within the township, engaging employees and their families in a spirit of togetherness and fitness. The celebration also featured a mass plantation drive, during which over 2,000 saplings were planted under the coordination of the Environment Monitoring Group(EMG) Department, reinforcing NTPC’s commitment to sustainability and green initiatives.

Established on 7 November 1975, NTPC has been at the forefront of India’s power sector transformation for the past five decades. Today, NTPC stands as the nation’s foremost energy major, dedicated to generating reliable, affordable, and sustainable power for all. The company continues its journey towards achieving 150 GW of capacity by 2032, integrating thermal, gas, hydro, nuclear, and renewable energy to build a greener future and reduce its carbon footprint.

The 51st Raising Day celebrations at NTPC Bongaigaon highlighted the organisation’s enduring legacy, its commitment to the community and the environment, and its forward-looking vision of building a sustainable and energy-secure India.
