OPGC Celebrates 42nd Foundation Day at IB Thermal Power Station

IB Thermal Power Station, 15-11-2025: Odisha Power Generation Corporation Ltd. marked its 42nd Foundation Day on 14th November 2025 with a vibrant two-day celebration at IB Thermal Power Station (ITPS).

Festivities began with the unfurling of the OPGC flag by Director (Operations) Sri Anjana Ranjan Dash, in the presence of Sr. VP (Operations) Sri Sukanta Mohapatra, Sr.G.M (HR) Subhashish Mukherjee, department heads, employees and their families. A spirited mini-marathon followed in three categories—employees, ladies, and children—flagged off by the Director (Operations) at 7:20 AM from the helipad. Over 600 participants joined the run.

Employees: 1st – Kaushik Ghosh, 2nd – S. K. Mazhar, 3rd – Bhagmat Majhi
Ladies: 1st – Nalini Pradeep, 2nd – Dipti Sahoo, 3rd – Palami Sinha
Children: 1st – Pappu Jena, 2nd – Johan Kumar Pradhan, 3rd – Pratyush Kumar Dandsena

Winners were felicitated with gold, silver, and bronze medals by Director (Operations), Sr. VP (Operations), and Ladies Club President Mrs. Sangita Dash.

A plantation drive at the helipad and a blood donation camp at IB Thermal Hospital were also organized in collaboration with the Red Cross. The camp, inaugurated by Director (Operations), collected 46 units of blood from employees and family members. Sri Dash also visited patients at ITPS Hospital and distributed fruits. A puja and havan was performed at the Shiv Temple at 10:30 AM.

Managing Director Sri Kedar Ranjan Pandu addressed employees via video conference from the corporate office, extending warm Foundation Day wishes.

The evening saw a grand celebration at the helipad ground, inaugurated with a ceremonial lamp-lighting by senior officials. Director (Operations) dedicated OPGC’s growth to the hard work of past and present employees. A special video on OPGC’s journey featured greetings from OPGC Chairman & Principal Secretary, Energy Dept. Sri Vishal Kumar Dev, IAS, the Managing Director, Director-Finance, and Director-Operations. A lively fete was inaugurated, with stalls by employees, families, local SHGs, and outside agencies. The night concluded with a captivating musical performance by renowned Odia film industry singers and band.

Day two featured an exhibition cricket match between OPGC veterans and young employees at Rajiv Gandhi Ground, followed by an exhibition football match between Associates and OPGC employees. The celebrations wrapped up with a colourful cultural evening presented by employees, ITPS Ladies Club members, and school children.
