Kashipur : Utkal Alumina International Limited (UAIL), a subsidiary of Hindalco Industries under the Aditya Birla Group, has undertaken several developmental activities in the remote Munuspadar village under Doraguda area of Tikiri in Rayagada district.
Munushpadar, a remote village under Dangasil Panchayat of Kashipur block, had reported cases of skin disease during the month of October. Following this information, the CSR team of UAIL responded promptly. Braving a nearly four-kilometre stretch of hilly terrain, forests and streams, the team reached the village and organized a health camp to provide medical services to the affected residents. Alongside healthcare support, various development-oriented works were also initiated in the village.
Subsequently, the district administration, including District Chief Development Officer Mr. Akshay Kumar Khemundu, visited the village to assess the ground situation. He highly appreciated UAIL’s initiatives, particularly the organization of health camps and the arrangements made for safe drinking water supply.
With the objective of integrating Munuspadar village into the mainstream, UAIL CSR has taken several people-centric measures. To ensure access to safe drinking water, stream water has been treated using mechanical purification systems and supplied to the village through tap connections. In addition, five solar-powered lights have been installed in the village. A mobile medical team has been conducting regular health check-up camps, and blankets have been distributed to 60 villagers to protect them from the winter cold. Further, under the CSR-supported URMI project, sanitary napkins were distributed among adolescent girls of the village.
Earlier, villagers faced severe challenges in accessing basic services such as healthcare, drinking water and electricity. However, with the implementation of multiple development initiatives by UAIL, the residents have expressed their happiness and gratitude for the company’s proactive and inclusive approach towards improving their quality of life.
