Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s leading financial professionals, Chartered Accountants, organised PPL 2025 involving various financial service providers such as Chartered Accountants (CAs), Company Secretaries (CSs), and Cost and Works Accountants (CWAs). The final match between Accounts Army and Financial Gladiators was played at the Railway Cricket Stadium, Jatni**, where Financial Gladiators won by 146 runs.
On this occasion, Ranji Trophy player BBCC Mohapatra, Indian women’s team members Meghana Singh and Ekta Bisht**, attended the event as chief guests. Sushmit Das was adjudged Man of the Match, while Raj Agasti was named Man of the Series. The game was a 20-over match between Financial Gladiators and Accounts Army.
The Chartered Accountants of the state are organising a special kind of cricket league, the Professional Premier League (PPL), which is now in its third edition. It is an exciting cricket tournament designed exclusively for Chartered Accountants (CAs), Company Secretaries (CSs), and Cost and Works Accountants (CWAs). The season witnessed incredible enthusiasm and active participation from all concerned.
This year, five teams participated in the competition: Market Mister, Capital Challengers, Accounts Army, Tax Titans, and Finance Gladiators. Each team showcased unique talent in its respective field, creating an atmosphere of healthy competition and camaraderie. Apart from the excitement of runs and wickets, PPL cricketers were expected to fulfil the league’s main objective.
The matches, held in January, were fascinating. Building on the success of the first two editions, the Professional Premier League is evolving into a unique platform that promotes professional bonding, fitness, and fair play. The winning team received a prize of ₹50,000, while the runner-up received ₹25,000. Notably, a prize money system was introduced in this edition, further motivating participants and promoting sportsmanship.
All team members were selected through a traditional auction process, which was also introduced in this edition.
