NTPC Bongaigaon Celebrates 21st Raising Day with Pride and Operational Excellence

Bongaigaon : NTPC Bongaigaon celebrated its 21st Raising Day at the plant premises with enthusiasm and a renewed commitment to powering the nation responsibly. Shri Arnab Maitra, Head of Project, NTPC Bongaigaon, hoisted the NTPC flag at the Administrative Building premises, followed by the rendition of the NTPC Geet and ceremonial cake cutting. Balloons in NTPC colours were released by Shri Maitra in the presence of Shri Anurag Gupta, GM (O&M), Smt. Kasturi Maitra, President, Bardwi Shikla Ladies Club, CISF officials, Departmental Heads, employees from various departments, representatives of Unions and Associations, and members of welfare bodies.

Addressing the gathering, Shri Maitra recalled that the foundation stone of NTPC Bongaigaon, laid on 16th January 2006, opened new avenues of development for the Bodoland Territorial Region, the North East, and the entire nation. He highlighted the station’s strong operational performance and informed that as on 15th January 2026, NTPC Bongaigaon has generated 3,527 Million Units of energy with a Plant Load Factor of 67.56% and a Declared Capacity of 96.93%.

Shri Maitra noted the outstanding achievement in continuous generation, with Unit#2 having recorded 319 days of non-stop operation in July 2025 before undergoing overhauling, while Unit#1 has surpassed this milestone and is running uninterrupted for the last 373 days. He appreciated that critical parameters such as Auxiliary Power Consumption, Specific Oil Consumption, and Specific Water Consumption—recorded at 2.55 litres per KWh—have been maintained within prescribed limits, demonstrating the station’s focus on efficiency and sustainable resource management. NTPC Bongaigaon currently ranks 4th in the Safety Evaluation Matrix and remains among the top 10 stations in the Performance Evaluation Matrix across NTPC.

Emphasising the station’s leadership in sustainability, Shri Maitra informed that NTPC Bongaigaon achieved its highest-ever total ash utilisation of 115.3% since inception. December 2025 witnessed a historic monthly ash utilisation of 235,683 MT, equivalent to 313.45%, while the highest single-day utilisation of 10,596.70 MT was achieved on 24th December 2025. He further added that the station received the highest number of coal rakes at 76 with a total coal receipt of 2,84,861 MT in December 2025. Overall, the station achieved a total ash utilisation of 113.5% during the year, the highest since inception. These milestones underline the station’s strong commitment to a circular economy and environmental stewardship.

Shri Maitra credited these achievements to the dedicated workforce, describing NTPC Bongaigaon as a blend of experienced professionals and energetic young executives whose collective spirit is reflected in operations, welfare initiatives, and vibrant township life. He urged all employees to continue working with integrity and innovation to project NTPC Bongaigaon as a professionally driven and value-based organisation committed to society and the environment. He also thanked the Unions and Associations, welfare bodies, and Bardwi Shikla Ladies Club for their continuous support.

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives, the Bardwi Shikla Ladies Club distributed over 85 educational kits to students of Bhumki Lower Primary School, Salakati, located near the power plant, reaffirming NTPC Bongaigaon’s commitment to community development and promotion of education.
