Kansariguda | 11–17 January 2026: Aditya Alumina Refinery, a unit of Hindalco Industries Limited of Aditya Birla Group, observed National Road Safety Week with a series of road safety awareness initiatives involving employees, workmen, business partners, and the local community.
The week featured road safety quizzes for school children and workmen, distribution of reflective safety jackets, defensive driving training sessions by CEAT, Shell, and SANY, and a “Suraksha Rath” that carried road safety messages to 15–20 nearby villages. A key highlight was the “Raahgiri” initiative, promoting responsible road behaviour through positive engagement with road users.
The program was inaugurated by Mr. Mazhar Beg, Unit Head & President, in the presence of senior leadership including ; Mr. Ramesh Chandra Duvvada, Head Construction, Mr. P.K. Padhi, Admin & Security Head, Mr. Basudev Rao Ghanta, AVP – Process & Project, Mr. Deepak Mohanty, HR Head – CSR, IR & OHC, Mr. Madhumalaya Dwibedy, Safety Head & Fire Head, Representatives from PMC TCE, L&T, Essar, ISGEC, and Mythri also attended the inaugural ceremony.
Delivering his message, Mr. Mazhar Beg emphasized, “Road safety is a shared responsibility and must be practiced every day, not only during awareness weeks. For two-wheeler riders, wearing a helmet with proper fastening, maintaining safe speed, and following lane discipline are non-negotiable habits. Every journey should begin with safety.”
The program concluded with a valedictory ceremony where competition winners were felicitated, and crash helmets were distributed to community members. The initiative was successfully executed by the Safety Department of Aditya Alumina Refinery with strong support from the TCE Safety Team & Unit CSR Team reinforcing the refinery’s commitment to building a safer and more responsible community.
