BJD Raises Serious Questions over the Death of an Aide at the Residence of the State Supply Minister
- Only a U.D. case registered; body hastily handed over
- Media prevented from interacting with the deceased’s family, raising suspicion
- Government must order a proper investigation and clarify responsibility
Bhubaneswar, 30/01/2026:The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) today strongly questioned the BJP-led state government over the unnatural death of an aide at the official residence of State Supply Minister Shri Krushna Chandra Patra and the undue haste in handing over the body to the deceased’s family.
Addressing a press conference at Sankha Bhawan, BJD Vice President Shri Sanjay Dasburma stated that an unexpected and unnatural death has occurred at the official residence of a serving cabinet minister, yet the government has limited its response to registering only an Unnatural Death (U.D.) case and swiftly handing over the body. Such haste has raised serious doubts and unanswered questions.
Shri Dasburma pointed out that the Home Department is directly under the Chief Minister Shri Mohan Majhi, and therefore it is his responsibility to place the complete truth of this incident before the people of Odisha. While it is being claimed that the death was caused by electrocution, any death due to electric shock inside a government residence is a grave matter and indicates a serious security and administrative lapse.
He further questioned how the incident occurred and who is accountable for the death, stressing that these issues demand a thorough, transparent, and formal investigation. Alarmingly, media representatives were prevented from interacting with the deceased’s family at the time the body was handed over, further strengthening suspicion that the government is attempting to suppress facts.
The Biju Janata Dal demands that the state government immediately order an impartial investigation into the incident and provide a clear and credible explanation regarding the cause of death and those responsible, Shri Dasburma said.
