Over 1,500 People Benefit from Eye Check-up Camps Organized by OPGC in Jharsuguda

IB Thermal, March 20, 2026: As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, Odisha Power Generation Corporation Ltd. (OPGC) successfully organized a series of five eye check-up camps from March 11 to March 20, 2026, across five peripheral Gram Panchayats under Lakhanpur block in Jharsuguda district. The camps were held at Telenpali on March 11, Dalgaon on March 13, Tilia on March 15, Remenda on March 17, and Kumarbandh on March 20.

A total of 1,570 people underwent eye screening during these camps, including 839 males and 731 females. Out of them, 1,356 patients were provided with spectacles, helping improve their vision and overall quality of life. During the screening process, 114 patients diagnosed with cataracts underwent cataract surgery at Mahanadi Netra Chikitsalaya, Jharsuguda, with all expenses borne by OPGC. These surgeries have not only restored eyesight but also brought renewed hope and confidence to many beneficiaries.

The campaign was formally launched by Shri Anjana Ranjan Dash, Director (Operation), OPGC, who inaugurated the first camp at the Gram Panchayat Office, Telenpali, in the presence of Shri Sukanta Mohapatra, Senior Vice President (Operation), Dr. Sangita Panda, Chief Medical Officer, ITPS Hospital, Shri Prafulla Dhal, Advisor-CSR, and other senior officials of OPGC.

The camps were conducted in collaboration with Care Netram, Bhubaneswar, with a dedicated medical team providing comprehensive eye screenings. The initiative focused on identifying cataracts, vision impairments, and other eye-related conditions among rural residents. OPGC’s CSR team comprising Himansu Behera, Senior Manager-CSR; Tapas Panda, Assistant Manager-CSR; and Amar Singh, Executive-CSR, co-ordinated these camps with active support from the Sarpanches of the five Gram Panchayats, ensuring smooth organization and maximum community participation.
