- No conspiracy by Prabhat Biswal will succeed in weakening the BJD

Bhubaneswar, 21/03/2026: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has strongly criticized former MLA Shri Prabhat Biswal, who has been implicated in chit fund scam cases, stating that his remarks on the principles and ethics of BJD are nothing but irrational ranting.
The party alleged that by involving his son Shri Souvik Biswal in horse-trading during the Rajya Sabha elections and amassing crores of rupees, he has betrayed BJD President Shri Naveen Patnaik. The party asserted that the people of Cuttack will never forgive such betrayal.
Addressing a press conference at Shankha Bhavan today, Senior General Secretary of the party, Dr. Lekhasri Samantsinghar, stated that Shri Prabhat Biswal had been involved in corruption related to tube-well installations during the Congress government in 1995 and had amassed huge amounts of money. She further alleged that people of Cuttack are well aware of the funds he had collected from various kirtan groups for his personal expenses.
She added that after being suspended from the party, he appears unaware of what he is saying and seems to be under prolonged pressure. His statements in the media indicate that he is acting as if he has taken a contract to weaken the BJD. She emphasized that BJD represents 4.5 crore people of Odisha and that those conspiring to weaken the party, which has always fought for the interests of the people, will never be forgiven by the people of the State.
Dr. Samantsinghar further stated that just 15 days ago, Shri Prabhat Biswal had suggested that Smt. Sujata Karthikeyan, wife of Shri V. Karthikeyan Pandian, should be given responsibility in the party and sent to the Rajya Sabha. However, his current criticism of her is nothing but incoherent ranting.
She also referred to his recent allegation that Rs. 4,000 crore of BJD funds had been transferred to a Delhi-registered trust under the control of Shri V.K. Pandian and Shri Santrupt Misra. She dismissed this claim as baseless and termed it “sheer nonsense.” She clarified that Shri Naveen Patnaik himself has stated that the trust is a personal initiative formed with the knowledge of his family members, and that he contributed Rs. 1 lakh from his personal funds to it.
She further stated that the allegation of Rs. 4,000 crore being part of the trust is a deliberate attempt to mislead the public. The trust, she said, was established to carry forward initiatives such as the scientific awards started by Biju Babu, not for any misuse of funds. She concluded by saying that both Biju Babu and Shri Naveen Patnaik have always served the people, and that their residence in Cuttack has been dedicated to public service. The BJD has always remained a popular party of the people of Odisha and will continue to be so. No matter how hard Shri Prabhat Biswal tries, he will not succeed in weakening the party, and the people of Odisha will give him a befitting reply for his actions.
