- Requests for construction of Railway Over Bridge (ROB) at Kalarahanga level crossing, Patia
- Railway Minister assures to look into this long-pending demand on a priority basis
Bhubaneswar(Kalinga Voice): Shri Sushant Kumar Rout, MLA, Bhubaneswar (North) met Union Railway Minister Shri Piyush Goyal in New Delhi over the construction of Railway Over Bridge (ROB) at Kalarahanga level crossing number-184 near Patia Station in Bhubaneswar and discussed about this long pending demand from the public of these areas. Shri Goyal assured to look into the matter on a priority basis.
In the letter addressed to the Union Railway Minister, MLA Bhubaneswar (North) has mentioned that, Patia Railway Station is situated in between Bhubaneswar and Cuttack Railway station which is coming under his assembly constituency. This railway station is covering urban wards and 5 Gram panchayats and it is one of the fastest-growing Urban-Rural combined habitats of the state of Odisha. Kalarahanga Level Crossing Number-184 is situated immediately to the north of Patia Railway station, the busiest roads of this area. This road is the main connecting road for 8 GPs to Patia area which has all basic amenities including school, college, hospital, bank, offices, etc. On the other hand, the same road connects Patia to NH-16 connecting Bhubaneswar & Cuttack. So lives of around 35000-40000 population of this area are being impacted for this level crossing, as it remains closed for 10-12 hours a day for the movements of trains on this route. It causes a lot of inconvenience to school-going children, ambulance and other emergency services and both sides of this level crossing has agricultural lands and farmers are being affected severely due to such congestion.
Thus, considering all the factors, in the larger interest of the public, the MLA has requested the Union Railway Minister to take necessary steps for expediting the process of construction of Railway Over Bridge (ROB) at Kalarahanga Railway Level crossing and government of Odisha will extend all supports at the ground level for implementation of this project.
Shri Rout, MLA, Bhubaneswar (North) stated that “The meeting with the Union Railway Minister was very positive. I have given a letter requesting him to take appropriate measures for the construction of a Railway Over Bridge (ROB) at Kalarahang Level Crossing near Patia which is one of the most important areas of my constituency. Shri Goyal has assured to look into this long-pending demand on a priority basis and I am sure, it will certainly bring an end to the problems faced by commuters of this area and give them a sigh of relief for their day to day movements.”
