SOA FACULTY OF MANAGEMENT SCIENCES ORGANISES ‘CONVERGENCE-2026’

Bhubaneswar, March 27: As many as 125 students from 14 different B-Schools and colleges  in and around the capital city participated in ‘Convergence-2026’, the two-day annual day and B-School Meet of the Institute of Business and Computer Studies (IBCS), faculty of management sciences of SOA Deemed to be University here, held on March 24 and 25.

The event symbolised the dynamic synergy representing innovation, adaptability and collaborative spirit—bringing together diverse ideas and perspectives on a single platform. The participants took part in a plethora of  activities including solo singing, solo dance, extempore, business quiz, smart idea, elevator  pitch, corporate merger and acquisition challenge, ad mad show and mono-acting.

            The inauguration of the two-day event, marked by great enthusiasm and academic fervour, was graced by Mr. Sudhi Ranjan Mishra, General Manager-Corporate Affairs and Government Relations, Jindal Stainless Ltd, who presented his perspectives on innovation, leadership and the evolving landscape of education and industry.

            R.J. Neil of 93.5 Red FM also shared valuable thoughts, emphasizing collaboration and forward-thinking approaches in today’s dynamic environment.

            Prof. Pradipta Kumar Nanda, Vice-Chancellor of SOA, who presided over the inaugural ceremony attended by distinguished dignitaries, faculty members, researchers and students, highlighted the importance of academic excellence, research integration and holistic development in shaping future leaders.

Prof. Ayasa Kanta Mohanty, Dean of IBCS, spoke about the significance of such platforms in nurturing managerial and research competencies among students. Prof. Jyoti Ranjan Das, Dean (Students’ Welfare) , also addressed the gathering encouraging student participation and engagement in academic and co-curricular initiatives.

Dr. Ashish Mohanty, Coordinator of Convergence-2026, outlined the objectives and vision of the event. Dr. Partho Pratim Ghosh, proposed the vote of thanks.

The valedictory ceremony was graced by Mr. J. P. Singh, Director, Export Division, JPH Exports Pvt. Ltd., who shared valuable insights on industry practices and global business opportunities. Prof. Anup Kumar Samantaray, Pro-Vice Chancellor of SOA, presided.

Prof. Mohanty, Dean, IBCS emphasised on the importance of platforms like ‘Convergence-2026’ in fostering innovation, managerial excellence and industry-academia collaboration. He highlighted the active participation of students and scholars as a testament to the institution’s commitment to holistic development.

Prof. Manoranjan Dash, Associate Dean, IBCS, in his address, appreciated the collective efforts of the organizers and participants. He underscored the value of experiential learning and encouraged students to leverage such opportunities to enhance their professional competency and leadership skills.

A comprehensive report on Convergence-2026 was presented by Dr. Basanta Padhi, Coordinator of ‘Convergence-2026’ outlining the key activities and achievements. Prizes and certificates were distributed to faculty, staff and students for their active participation in various intramural events held at the campus. Mr. Subhrajyoti Kar, Coordinator, ‘Convergence-2026’ proposed the vote of thanks.
