BJD demands unconditional apology from Dubey to the people of the State and the Nation
- His remarks clearly reflect a distorted mindset
- Biju Babu had deep knowledge of defence, aviation, and international relations
- Biju Babu was a great freedom fighter and a true patriot
Bhubaneswar, 30/03/2026:The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) today strongly condemned the objectionable remarks made by BJP MP Nishikant Dubey against legendary leader Biju Babu.
The Biju Yuva and Chhatra Janata Dal staged a protest at Master Canteen Square, expressing strong opposition to Dubey’s remarks. The Party President and Former Chief Minister, Shri Naveen Patnaik, also reacted sharply through the media. Shri Patnaik stated that Dubey’s comments reflect a distorted mindset and are a result of such thinking.
At a press conference held at SankhaBhawan, Senior Party Vice-President Shri Debi Prasad Mishra and Party Chief Whip Smt. Pramila Mallik condemned Dubey’s statement and demanded that he issue an unconditional apology to the people of Odisha and the nation.
Smt. Mallik stated that Shri Dubey has little to no understanding of Biju Babu’s immense contributions to the country and the world. It is due to this ignorance that he has made such distasteful remarks against a great patriot like Biju Babu. Since the remarks came into the public domain, countless admirers of Biju Babu across the State and the country have strongly condemned them. However, it is unfortunate that BJP leaders in power in the State have maintained silence. Even the 20 BJP MPs elected in the last election have remained mysteriously silent. The BJP came to power in the State invoking Odia pride; this reflects their version of that pride. Therefore, Smt. Mallik demanded that Dubey apologize unconditionally to the people of Odisha and the country.
Shri Debi Prasad Mishra stated that Biju Babu was a great freedom fighter and an exceptional statesman. He possessed deep knowledge of defence, aviation, and international relations, which earned him global recognition. Owing to his expertise, he was entrusted with several important missions by the Government of India. He risked his life on multiple occasions while undertaking such missions. It is extremely unfortunate that such a personality is being labelled as a “CIA agent.” Such derogatory remarks against a great freedom fighter and patriot are highly condemnable. Therefore, Shri Mishra reiterated that Dubey must tender an unconditional apology to the people of Odisha and the nation.
