Bhubaneswar, 30/03/2026:Following the objectionable remarks made by BJP MP ShriNishikant Dubey against legendary leader Biju Babu, strong reactions have been witnessed across the country.Recently, Shri Dilip Ray, who was elected to the Rajya Sabha as an independent candidate with BJP support, posted on social media in support of Biju Babu. The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has strongly reacted to this post by ShriDilip Ray, who claims to be a torchbearer of Biju’s legacy.
In a press statement issued by the party, its Spokesperson and Media Coordinator Dr. Lenin Mohanty said that while ShriNishikant Dubey’s remarks have insulted the dignity and legacy of Biju Babu and drawn nationwide criticism, ShriDilip Ray, who does politics in the name of Biju’s legacy, has limited himself to a social media post.In his post, Shri Ray has described Biju Babu’s personality, bravery, patriotism, and contributions to the State and the nation. Some of his supporters have reshared the post, praising it as an act of courage. However, anyone reading the post can clearly understand that rather than demonstrating courage, ShriDilip Ray has attempted to hide his weakness.
Notably, in his post, ShriDilip Ray has not written a single word condemning BJP MP ShriNishikant Dubey, who made the offensive remarks against Biju Babu. What he has written about Biju Babu is already part of well-documented history. Many reputed authors have written extensively about Biju Babu, and such material is readily available in libraries.The issue at hand is the objectionable remark made by a BJP MP against a legendary and unparalleled leader like Biju Babu. Therefore, as a leader of the State, the primary responsibility should have been to condemn Dubey’s statement and demand an unconditional apology, something Shri Ray has failed to do. Instead, he has confined his post to mere praise of Biju Babu.
Dr.Mohanty further stated that it is evident Shri Ray, being associated with the BJP and having been elected with its support, lacks the courage to condemn the statement of a BJP MP. By making a superficial social media post, he is attempting to create an impression of upholding Biju’s legacy, while his supporters amplify this narrative.Such a post, he said, is intended only to mislead the people of the State. If Shri Ray truly believes in Biju’s legacy and possesses even a fraction of Biju Babu’s courage, he should directly condemn ShriNishikant Dubey’s remarks and demand an unconditional apology from him.
