Odia New Year and Pana Sankranti Celebrated at Shankha Bhawan
Bhubaneswar, 14/04/2026: On the occasion of the 135th birth anniversary of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, the Biju Janata Dal paid floral tribute today at his statue located at AG Square, Bhubaneswar. Senior leaders and party workers gathered and offered floral respects. The programme was conducted under the leadership of BJD District President Shri Ashok Chandra Panda.
At Shankha Bhawan, floral tributes were also offered to the portraits of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar and legendary leader Biju Patnaik. A detailed discussion was held on the life and contributions of Dr. Ambedkar. A meeting was organised focusing on his life, ideals, social justice, and immense contribution to nation-building. On this occasion, the Odia New Year and Pana Sankranti were also celebrated with enthusiasm at Shankha Bhawan.
Addressing the gathering, Senior Vice President Shri Debi Prasad Mishra stated that Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, popularly known as Baba Saheb, was the chief architect of the Indian Constitution and a social reformer, lawyer, economist, and political leader. He dedicated his life to the upliftment of the backward and oppressed sections of society and constantly fought for equality, justice, and human rights. Other senior leaders also addressed the meeting, remembering Dr. Ambedkar as a progressive reformer and visionary leader, and emphasized the need to follow his ideals in the present times.
On this occasion, Smt. Sulochana Das, Shri Chinmaya Sahu, Ipsita Sahu, Shri Ananta Narayan Jena, Dr. Debashish Marandi, Shri Mahesh Sahu, Smt. Sumitra Jena, Smt. Sulata Deo, Smt. LekhashreeSamantsinghar, and Shri Manmath Routray also spoke. Media Coordinator Dr. Priyabrata Majhi delivered the vote of thanks.
