  •  ₹3.05 Crore project commissioned to improve power quality and reliability in Bijepur area.
  •  Around 12,000 domestic, agricultural and industrial consumers are benefiting from this project.
  •  Dedicated feeder from Bijepur GSS reduces overload and strengthens uninterrupted power supply.

Burla, May 2026: In a major step towards improving electricity services for consumers in Bijepur area of Bargarh district, TP Western Odisha Distribution Limited (TPWODL) has successfully commissioned a new dedicated 33 kV feeder from Bijepur Grid Sub-Station (GSS) to Bijepur Power Sub-Station (PSS). The project is expected to significantly improve voltage quality and ensure more reliable power supply for nearly 12,000 consumers in the region.

For a long time, consumers in Bijepur and nearby areas were receiving power through a single 33 kV feeder from 132/33 kV Ghenss GSS. The feeder was supplying electricity to both Bijepur and Arda PSS through a long 29.3 circuit kilometre line. Due to the increasing load and long distance, consumers often experienced voltage fluctuations and power reliability issues, especially during peak demand periods.

Understanding the growing need for a stronger and more dependable power network, TPWODL planned a separate dedicated feeder system for Bijepur and Arda PSS. As part of this initiative, a new 4.7 circuit kilometre 33 kV feeder was constructed from Bijepur GSS to Bijepur PSS, including 3.5 ckm overhead line and 1.2 ckm underground cable network.

With the commissioning of the new feeder, consumers in Bijepur town and nearby areas including M. Gandpali, Jaraing, Kharmunda, Tamimunda, Baramunda, Dhumapali will now experience improved voltage profile, reduced overloading and enhanced reliability of power supply. The project will not only benefit domestic consumers, but also farmers as well as commercial and industrial establishments including 3 rice mills, 5 poultry farms and 7 crushers in the region.

The project was completed with an investment of around ₹3.05 crore. Despite several operational challenges, TPWODL teams ensured timely completion of the work through strong coordination, continuous supervision and quick on-ground response.

As part of the safety measures during project execution, special reflectors were also installed at road turning points, single poles and distribution points to improve visibility for road users during night hours and enhance public safety.

The successful commissioning of the new feeder reflects TPWODL’s continued commitment towards strengthening power infrastructure and delivering safe, reliable and quality electricity services to consumers across western Odisha.
