  • Despite Invoking Biju Legacy, Debashish Had Once Not Hesitated to Attack Biju Babu
  • It is Unfortunate that Despite Holding Various Positions, He is Criticising the Party

Bhubaneswar, 28/05/2026:Debashish had received BJD MLA tickets five times and was elected MLA three times. Debashish, who had held various positions in the party, was sent to the Rajya Sabha by BJD President Shri Naveen Patnaik. Despite receiving so many opportunities and benefits, Debashish is now criticising the party, for which the Biju Janata Dal has strongly condemned him.

Addressing a press conference held today at SankhaBhawan, party spokesperson and media coordinator Dr. Lenin Mohanty said that for the last few years, there has been a trend in the country of luring and being lured. In that sequence, DebashishSamantaray, influenced by the inducements of the BJP two days ago, joined the BJP to fulfil his personal interests. During the tenure of the BJD government, he enjoyed all kinds of benefits and expanded his family business empire. At that time, Debashish never hesitated to praise the party, but now, when the BJD is sitting in the Opposition, he has no hesitation in criticising the party. DebashishSamantaray, who feels proud after joining the BJP, should remember that whatever identity he has today has been given by the Biju Janata Dal and BJD President Shri Naveen Patnaik. He is saying that by returning to the BJP, he has returned to his home, but currently there is internal conflict within the BJP. On one side is the Chief Minister, while on the other side is Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. While the BJP is sidelining Dharmendra Pradhan over the NEET question paper leak and CBSE examination irregularities, the Chief Minister is facing public anger over incidents of violence taking place in the state. DebashishSamantaray, who moved away from the BJD after falling into the trap of Dharmendra Pradhan for his business interests, will be answered by the people in the coming days.

Dr. Mohanty further said that DebashishSamantaray contested elections five times on BJD tickets and was elected MLA three times. Whenever people rejected him in elections, Shri Naveen Patnaik protected his political dignity by appointing him as OTDC Chairman and giving him various senior positions in the party. Later, BJD President Shri Naveen Patnaik sent him to the Rajya Sabha. Even after receiving so many benefits from the party, his hunger was not satisfied. To fulfil his personal interests, he joined the BJP. On one hand, DebashishSamantaray says he respects Naveen Patnaik, while on the other hand he displays a mentality of inferiority by saying that the Biju Janata Dal has no parents. While the entire world respects Shri Naveen Patnaik, it is extremely laughable that a selfish person like Debashish is making comments against such leadership. Debashish’s remarks reflect immaturity. Despite invoking the Biju legacy, Debashish had once not hesitated to attack Biju Babu. After enjoying all benefits from the Biju Janata Dal and then joining the BJP, Debashish should refrain from making such comments; otherwise, the people of Odisha will never forgive him.
