Bhubaneswar, 04/07/2026:Expressing deep concern over the unnatural death of Ms. Beauty Mohanty, Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) of Chauliaganj Police Station, BijuJanata Dal Spokesperson and Media Coordinator Dr. Lenin Mohanty stated that the incident has once again raised serious questions about the prevailing law and order situation in Odisha.
Dr. Mohanty said that lawlessness has become a matter of grave concern in the State. Almost every day, incidents occur that bring disrepute to Odisha and cause concern among its people across the country. Crimes against women and children have witnessed an alarming rise, reflecting the deteriorating law and order situation under the present government.
He further observed that even personnel entrusted with maintaining law and order are no longer safe. Referring to the recent incident at Balianta, where a police personnel lost his life in mob violence and allegations surfaced regarding the involvement of a senior police official, Dr. Mohanty said that such incidents have severely affected public confidence in the policing system. He also recalled earlier reports of women police officers allegedly being harassed by anti-social elements inside police stations, highlighting the growing insecurity within the force itself.
The unnatural death of Ms. Beauty Mohanty has therefore become a matter of serious public concern. Whether the incident is a case of suicide or whether there are other circumstances leading to her death must be established through a fair, impartial and transparent investigation. The truth should be brought before the people without any delay or attempt to suppress facts.
The BijuJanata Dal demands that a court-monitored inquiry be conducted by a neutral and independent agency to ensure a free, fair and credible investigation into the unnatural death of the Chauliaganj IIC. The people of Odisha deserve to know the truth, and justice must not only be done but also be seen to be done.
