Deputy Chief Minister of Odisha Inaugurates TPWODL’s New 33/11 kV Power Sub-station (PSS) in Baragada

₹16.59 Crore investment to enhance power reliability, improve voltage quality and support the growing electricity demand of nearly4000 consumers in Baragada Town.

Baragada, Odisha ||July 12, 2026:Reinforcing its commitment to building a future-ready and resilient power distribution network across Western Odisha, TP Western Odisha Distribution Limited (TPWODL), a joint venture between Tata Power and the Government of Odisha, today celebrated the formal inauguration of its newly commissioned 33/11 kV Power Sub-station (PSS) at Panchayat College, Baragada. The 10 MVA capacity facility, equipped with 2×5 MVA power transformers, was dedicated to the public by the Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister of Odisha, Shri Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo.

The new power sub-station was inaugurated in the august presence of Shri Pradeep Purohit, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Baragada; Shri Aswin Kumar Sarangi, Hon’ble MLA, Baragada; Shri Nihar Ranjan Mahanand, Hon’ble MLA, Attabira;Shri Sanat Kumar Gartia, Hon’ble MLA, Bijepur; Shri Irasis Acharya, Hon’ble MLA, Bijepur; Shri Aditya Goel, IAS, District Magistrate and Collector, Baragada,Shri Rabindra Nath Satapathy, IPS, Superintendent Of police, Baragada and Mr. Parveen Verma, CEO, TPWODL. Senior officials of TPWODL, public representatives, and local citizens also attended the inaugural ceremony.

Addressing the gathering, Shri Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister of Odisha, stated, “Today, we have inaugurated the new 33/11 kV Power Sub-Station near Panchayat College to ensure stable, reliable and uninterrupted power supply to every household in Bargarh district. Another Power Sub-Station is also set to be inaugurated in the coming days. Once both substations become operational, the district’s power distribution network will be significantly strengthened, enhancing service reliability and supporting the growing electricity needs of the people.”.

Developed with an investment of nearly ₹16.59 crore, the newly commissioned sub-station will directly benefit more than 4000 consumers, including domestic and commercial establishments across Baragada Town, Panchayat College area, Dipali Talkies area, Kali Mandir area, and other adjoining urban localities. The project has been designed to address the increasing electricity demand of the town while ensuring reliable, uninterrupted, and quality power supply for years to come.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Parveen Verma, CEO, TPWODL, said, “At TPWODL, we are committed to building a robust, reliable, and future-ready power distribution network that meets the evolving aspirations of our consumers and supports the rapid socio-economic growth of Western Odisha. The commissioning of the new 33/11 kV Power Sub-station at Baragada is another significant milestone in our infrastructure strengthening journey. This project will not only improve the quality and reliability of power supply for thousands of consumers but also create the necessary network capacity to support future urban expansion, commercial activities, and industrial development. The commissioning of the new facility will substantially reduce the load on existing 11 kV feeders, improve the voltage profile, minimise outages, and enhance the overall reliability of the distribution network. It will also provide greater operational flexibility through feeder bifurcation and load shifting, while creating additional network capacity to meet the future urban expansion and commercial growth of Baragada. The strengthened infrastructure will further support sustainable economic development and improve consumer service standards across the district headquarters. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Mr. Anupam Dash, Superintending Engineer, Baragada Electrical Circle, who expressed gratitude to the dignitaries, public representatives, and all stakeholders for their continued support in strengthening the power infrastructure across Western Odisha.
