KIMS Bhubaneswar hosts 3rd Annual Nephrology Conference KNC 3.0
Bhubaneswar: The Department of Nephrology at KIMS organised the 3rd Annual Nephrology Conference ‘KNC 3.0’, bringing together leading experts, faculty members, researchers and students from across the country to deliberate on the latest advancements in kidney care.
The conference was centred on the theme “Advances in Nephrology & Kidney Care”, highlighting emerging innovations and evolving practices in the field.
In his introductory address, Organising Secretary Prof. (Dr.) Nikunj Kishore Rout emphasised that nephrology is undergoing a transformative phase, moving beyond traditional dialysis and transplantation towards precision medicine and technology-driven care.
He highlighted advancements such as genomics, artificial intelligence, novel immunotherapies, next-generation dialysis technologies and new classes of drugs including SGLT2 inhibitors, non-steroidal MRAs and HIF inhibitors, which are redefining treatment approaches.
The scientific programme of KNC 3.0 featured a wide range of sessions covering glomerular diseases such as IgA nephropathy and lupus nephritis, nephrogenetics in PRAKI, innovations in chronic kidney disease management, transplant immunology and emerging therapies. The conference included expert lectures, case-based discussions, interactive academic sessions and a hands-on POCUS workshop, providing a comprehensive platform for knowledge exchange.
Renowned experts from premier institutions across India participated as speakers and chairpersons, sharing insights on cutting-edge research and clinical practices. Topics such as new paradigms in CKD management, anaemia treatment using HIF-PH inhibitors, advances in renal transplantation and strategies for managing complex dialysis cases were extensively discussed during the sessions.
The inaugural session was attended by Advisor to the Founder Dr. R. N. Samanta, Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) C. B. K. Mohanty, Dean & Principal Prof. (Dr.) R. C. Das, along with eminent speakers, delegates and students.
Senior Professor, Department of Nephrology, Dr. Aswini Prasad Patnaik, and Dr. Scienthia Sanjeevani actively participated in the conference, contributing to the academic deliberations.
KNC 3.0 served as a platform for postgraduate students and DM residents to engage with leading nephrologists, enhancing their clinical understanding and research exposure.
