Jharsuguda 28/08/2026: The 165th birth anniversary of Swabhaba Kabi Gangadhar Meher, the immortal literary genius of Odia literature, was celebrated with great reverence and devotion at DAV Public School, Jharsuguda. On this occasion, the students, teachers and staff of the school paid their heartfelt tributes by offering floral garlands at the statue of the great litterateur. During the programme, the life, literary contributions and invaluable contributions of Gangadhar Meher towards the Odia language and literature were remembered. Light was also shed on the remarkable blend of love for nature, humanity, morality and social consciousness reflected in his literary works.
The students were encouraged to read his works and follow his ideals in their lives. Under the guidance and leadership of the Principal, Laxmi kanta Debta, a captivating cultural programme was organised on the occasion. The students paid tribute to the great poet through various cultural performances based on his literature and thoughts. Student, Priti Prasanna Biswal dressed up as Gangadhar Meher and presented a character portrayal of the eminent poet, while student Sambhavi Senapati presented an Odishi dance performance.
The programme was coordinated by Madhusmita Palei, while teachers Nilima Patel, Dibyendu Mallick, Gitanjali Mishra, and Satyanarayan Jena guided and prepared the students for the performances. All the teachers of the school remained present and extended their cooperation towards making the programme a success.
