3 INTERCEPTIONS IN A DAY; 3 CLASS-I OFFICERS ARRESTED.

Keonjhar/Rourkela / Balasore (Kalinga Voice) : The Vigilance sleuths intercepted and arrested three class one officers today . Cash amounting Rs 22,61,720 were seized during interception and house search, as per the priliminary report.

On 09.10.2021, a team of Odisha Vigilance had intercepted Sri Bidhan Chandra Sahu, Superintending Engineer, Irrigation Baitarini Division, Salapada, DistKeonjhar at N.C. College Road in front of Covid Hospital, Jajpur town, while he was plying from Salapada to Cuttack by office Bolero vehicle. During interception, a sum of Rs.10,07,620/- (Rupees Ten Lakh Seven Thousand Six Hundred Twenty) was recovered from Sri Sahu, which he could not account for satisfactorily.
During search, cash of Rs.64,000/- from his residential house at Mahatab Road, Cuttack has been found. The entire amount totalling to Rs 10,71,620/- (Rupees Ten Lakh Seventy-one Thousand Six Hundred Twenty) has been seized.
In this connection, Cuttack Vigilance PS case No.16 dt.09.10.2021 U/s 7(a)/13 (2) r/w 13(1) (b) Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered against Sri Bidhan Chandra Sahu, Superintending Engineer, Irrigation Baitarini Division, Salapada, Dist-Keonjhar. Today i.e. on 10.10.2021 he has been arrested and is being forwarded to the Court.
The investigation of the case is in progress.
Similarly. a team of Odisha Vigilance had intercepted Sri Prakash Kumar Mohapatra, Regional Officer, State Pollution Control Board, Panposh, Rourkela at Sundarpada, Bhubaneswar, while he was returning from Rourkela. During interception, a sum of Rs.1,75,810/- (Rupees One Lakh Seventy-five Thousand Eight Hundred Ten) was recovered from Sri Mohapatra, which he could not account for satisfactorily.
In this connection, Bhubaneswar Vigilance PS case No.29 dt.09.10.2021 U/s 7(a)/13 (2) r/w 13(1) (b) Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered against Sri Prakash Kumar Mohapatra, Regional Officer, State Pollution Control Board, Panposh, Rourkela. On 09.10.2021 he was arrested and forwarded to the Court. The Hon’ble Court has remanded him to Judicial custody till 21.10.2021.The investigation of the case is too in progress.

A team of Odisha Vigilance had intercepted Sri Narottam Behera, Regional Officer, State Pollution Control Board, Balasore at Tangi check gate, Cuttack, while he was plying from Balasore to Bhubaneswar by hired Innova car bearing registration No.OD-02-C-9309. During interception, a sum of Rs.89,290/- (Rupees Eighty-nine Thousand Two Hundred Ninety) was recovered from Sri Behera, which he could not account for satisfactorily. During search, cash of Rs.9,25,000/- from his residential house at Satyanagr, Bhubaneswar has been found. The entire amount totalling to Rs 10,14,290/- (Rupees Ten Lakh Fourteen Thousand Two Hundred Ninety) has been seized.
In this connection, Cuttack Vigilance PS case No.17 dt.09.10.2021 U/s 7(a)/13 (2) r/w 13(1) (b) Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered against Sri Narottam Behera, Regional Officer, State Pollution Control Board, Balasore. Today i.e. on 10.10.2021 he has been arrested and is being forwarded to the Court. The investigation of the case is also in progress.
