Mock Drill organized by AM/NS India

Paradeep,: ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India) has conducted a full-scale disaster management mock drill inside the premises of its Paradeep pellet plant with an aim to improve the emergency preparedness at the plant. The on-site management team comprising of safety officers and coordinators exhibited a synchronized effort during the mock drill to contain fire in High Speed Diesel (HSD) and conveyor system in the plant with the help of safety equipment and fire fighting system. This mock drill was witnessed by senior Govt officials and senior executives from otherindustries operating at Paradeep.

During the mock drill, thecommand structure for rescue operation was followed and the affectedpersons were shifted from the place of incident with the help of self-contained breathing apparatus and other emergency response devices. The senior govt officials from the Directorate ofFactories and Boilers appreciated AM/NS team members for their efforts in conducting the mock drill and also suggested valuable inputs for betterment.

Attending the demonstration session, Mr G Suresha, Executive Director, Odisha Asset, AM/NS India said, “In the mock drill we saw and learned how we can be prepared and help each other in case of emergency. Such drills are very important from a safety point of view. Emergency preparedness must be adopted inside plant premises to avoid and control any unforeseen situation in the plant”.

Mr U.S.R Raju, Head- Pellet Plant, AM/NS India, Mr Sanjeev Kumar Muduli, Head Health and Safety, were joined by other officials in the programme.
