Union PNG Minister addressed Assocham Foundation Week-2020
“India’s energy architecture has undergone major changes in the last four years“
New Delhi / Bhubaneswar (Kalinga Voice) – “India’s energy architecture has undergone a transformational change during the last 6 years with an iron-willed determination to end energy poverty in the country in a sustainable manner. In spite of the Covid-19-induced limitations, our energy sector has been resilient” said Union PNG and Steel Minister Dharmendra Pradhan Sharing his views on “Energy Transition to Fuel India’s Growth Path” on the occasion of ASSOCHAM’s Foundation Week 2020.
Minister Sri Pradhan said ” Efforts are underway to develop the energy sector and the exploration and production (E&P), refineries, biofuels, strategic petroleum reserves, LNG capacity building, research and development (R&D) sectors. On this basis, the focus is on transparency, economic development, and new opportunities for the people of the country. The country is investing $ 60 billion in pipeline, city gas distribution, LNG, re-gasification terminals and gas infrastructure development. Similarly, with an investment of US $ 20 billion, the Government of India aims to set up 5,000 CBG plants in the coming days. The CBG plant is expected to produce 15 million metric tonnes of CBG annually. So far, 1,500 CBG plants have been set up in different parts of the country”.
Mr Pradhan said ” Continuous reforms and clarity of vision for the post-pandemic phase by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has enabled us to build back better and laid down a clear roadmap for building an AatmaNirbhar Bharat. India’s energy sector is brimming with opportunities that many among the investment and industry community is already participating in. There are even more opportunities that the industry needs to embrace to become partners in an Aatmanirbhar India’s growth story.”
The Minister too Invited India Inc leaders to join the Aatmanirbhar Bharat Urja initiatives and bring in greater self-reliance in the energy sector.
