Noida :  Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah visited the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Group Centre in Greater Noida; where he planted the four croreth sapling under the ‘All India Tree Plantation Drive.’

During the event, he also digitally inaugurated 15 newly constructed buildings across eight CRPF campuses. Addressing the gathering, Shah said, “Trees benefit us for generations, keeping the earth green and safeguarding the environment. By achieving the goal of planting four crore trees today, we’re swiftly progressing towards the target of 5 crore. This accomplishment is a result of the collaborative efforts of CRPF personnel. This campaign focuses on planting trees that provide higher levels of oxygen.”

Shah planted a Peepal tree during the plantation drive, citing its exceptional oxygen production. The ‘All India Tree Plantation Drive’ was initiated in July 2020 by the Ministry of Home Affairs, guided by PM Narendra Modi, and efficiently led by Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah, to address environmental protection.

Under Shah’s supervision, over 3.5 crore saplings were planted within the span of 2020 to 2022. With 4 crore tree plantations achieved today, the goal for planting 1 crore plantations this year is in progress. Shah underscored that CRPF personnel have made significant contributions to tree-planting for environmental preservation, alongside their role in ensuring national security.

Over the past nine years, extensive measures have been undertaken to combat global warming and climate change. The importance of protecting the environment has not only gained prominence within the country, but also globally. As a result of PM Modi’s initiatives, the United Nations recognized him as a ‘Champion of the Earth.’
