NTPC Bongaigaon Strengthens CSR Initiatives with MoA for Jail Infrastructure Development; Gets Recognition for TB Mukt Bharat Efforts
Kokrajhar(Kalinga Voice) : NTPC Bongaigaon has strengthened its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives by signing a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the District Administration, Kokrajhar, and PWD, Kokrajhar & Chirang District Territorial Division for the development of a kitchen and multi-purpose hall at Kokrajhar District Jail. The initiative is expected to enhance infrastructure within the jail premises, ensuring improved facilities for inmates and supporting their rehabilitation.
Under this initiative, NTPC Bongaigaon has committed ₹32.82 Lakhs + GST for infrastructure development at Kokrajhar District Jail. The project includes the construction of a modern kitchen, ensuring hygienic food preparation and meal distribution, and a multi-purpose hall, which will be used for skill development programs, vocational training, and rehabilitation activities. The project, aimed at improving inmates’ quality of life and supporting their reintegration into society, is expected to be completed within 16 months, with execution and monitoring by the District Administration, Kokrajhar, and PWD, Kokrajhar & Chirang District Territorial Division.

The MoA was formally exchanged between Smt. Masanda M Pertin, IAS, District Commissioner, Kokrajhar, and Shri Arnab Maitra, Business Unit Head, NTPC Bongaigaon. The agreement was signed on behalf of NTPC by Shri Onkar Nath, AGM (HR), while Shri Ajit Kumar Narzary, Executive Engineer, PWD-Kokrajhar & Chirang District Territorial Division, and Smt. Kabita Deka, ACS, Additional District Commissioner, Kokrajhar, signed on behalf of the district administration. The event was attended by Shri N Binod Wari, ADC, Kokrajhar, along with other officials of NTPC and District Administration.
Earlier in the day, NTPC Bongaigaon was recognized by the District Administration for its active participation in the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. As part of a TB Adoption Ceremony, organized under the 100-day Intensified Campaign on TB Elimination, NTPC Bongaigaon received an appreciation letter for its sustained efforts in supporting over 200 TB patients in Kokrajhar over the past two years.

Speaking on the occasion, Smt. Masanda M Pertin, IAS, District Commissioner, Kokrajhar, stressed the importance of correctional facilities serving as spaces for rehabilitation and transformation. She highlighted that the modern kitchen would improve hygiene and nutrition, while the multi-purpose hall would provide inmates with vocational training and rehabilitation programs, helping them reintegrate into society. She also appreciated NTPC Bongaigaon’s commitment to meaningful CSR initiatives and expressed confidence in the project’s successful implementation.
Shri Arnab Maitra, Business Unit Head, NTPC Bongaigaon, reaffirmed NTPC’s commitment to social responsibility and community development. He emphasized that the jail infrastructure project and the TB awareness campaign reflect NTPC’s dedication to creating a lasting impact on society. He further stated that NTPC remains committed to inclusive and sustainable growth, ensuring that its CSR initiatives address critical social needs.

Through this initiative, NTPC Bongaigaon has been providing nutritional and medical assistance to TB patients and has announced plans in near future to further intensify its efforts in ensuring a TB-free Kokrajhar. In collaboration with representatives from IOCL, 135 Territorial Army, and Bismuri, TB patients were provided with nutritional support and protein kits, reinforcing NTPC’s dedication to public health and community well-being.
By actively engaging in healthcare, education, infrastructure development, and skill-building programs, NTPC Bongaigaon continues to contribute to the upliftment of communities and the improvement of social infrastructure.
