Women in Aviation India Awards 2024 : Empowering Dreams, Elevating the Skies

New Delhi / Bhubaneswar: In a celebration of vision, determination, and achievement, the Ministry of Civil Aviation proudly hosted the Women in Aviation India Awards 2024 at Aerocity, New Delhi. With the theme “Giving Wings to Dreams,” this remarkable event paid tribute to the trailblazing women who have not only broken barriers but also inspired future generations to dream and achieve beyond limits.

The ceremony began on a note of reverence and inspiration with the lighting of the lamp and Saraswati Vandana, symbolizing wisdom and enlightenment. An insightful overview of the meticulous and transparent selection process was shared by jury member Mr. Vivek Atray, emphasizing the credibility of the awards. The welcome address by Smt. Radha Bhatia, President of Women in Aviation India, set a tone of optimism and determination, echoing a shared vision of limitless opportunities for women in aviation.

In the keynote address, Shri Vumlunmang Vualnam, Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation, reaffirmed India’s unwavering commitment to fostering inclusive growth, highlighting the critical role of women in shaping the future of aviation. Other dignitaries, including the Director General of DGCA, emphasized the significance of diversity and gender equality in the sector. Shri Vipin Kumar, Chairman of AAI also graced the occasion.

Smt. Usha Padhee, IAS, Principal Secretary, Commerce & Transport Department, Government of Odisha, spotlighted the significant role of women in building a robust economy and achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat. She also highlighted Odisha’s innovative initiatives in empowering women through aviation.

As part of this initiative, girl students enthusiastically participated in an essay competition on the theme “Empowering Dreams to Soar” on 8th November at Rama Devi Women’s Junior College in Odisha. Four exceptional participants Ms. Puspanjali Gouda, Ms. Ankita Priyadarshinee Swain, Ms. Devaswinee Jena and Ms. Ananya jyoti Routray were awarded scholarships to pursue foundational aviation courses, a gesture of encouragement. The presence of Smt. Saroj laxmi Singh, Principal of Rama Devi Junior College, underscored the commitment to fostering young talent and empowering women at the grassroots level.

The ceremony concluded with awards to the luminaries of Indian aviation which stand as a powerful testament to the Ministry’s dedication to nurturing talent, fostering inclusivity, and driving innovation in the aviation sector.
